Kitchener/Waterloo area, c u next trackday riders thread!

Very nice trailer, but way out of my price range.

Just need something that can tow my bikes, haul crap to the dump and pick supplies up at homedepot

just a simple 4x8 or 4x6 trailer, i prefer one with ramps for under $500

something like this.

Hey Nick...
Here's an awesome trailer for you...
If I had the extra cash handy right now I'd pick it up...

Got my bike back from Pro6 today. A whopping 72.2hp! :) I'm actually surprised that it's over 70.

What did you have done again? ECU tuning?

Yeah, they only got 0.7HP more out of it, but he said they smoothed out the throttle control a lot. That was mainly what I wanted.

what did they use to tune, PCiii?

Just mucking with the rear suspension on Suzi...
She's got a GSXR-1000 rear shock in it now (for those that don't know).
At the moment, this is what I've got it set at - looking for recommendations as to what I might want to change before the first track day.

Spring Pre-Load.
Full soft - 156mm. Full Stiff - 166mm. Factor - 161mm. Currently: 166mm (Full stiff)

Compression Damping.
Full soft - 4.25 turns from full stiff. Factory - 3 turns from full stiff. Currently: 1.75 turns from full stiff.

Rebound Damping.
Factory - 11 clicks from full stiff. Currently - no idea. Can't access screw because dog bone is in the way. Probably needs to have me sit on it so that the shock will compress and hopefully allow a screwdriver to reach.

Thoughts on the preload and compression damping? I'm 230 lbs. in full gear.... an SV forum suggests max spring preload (for those with the GSX-R1000 shock) for track usage, so I figured that would be the place to start.

They have a Teka tuner which is for tuning Suzuki ECU's :)

Tim, I would start with compression at full soft. If you have an acceptable spring rate you shouldn't need any compression damping at all, and you don't want to compensate for a soft spring by stiffening up compression damping.

Holy crap..
Just checked out replacement cost on the tires on Suzi... Metzeler Racetek K3's... $460 plus taxes! OUCH!!! And that's the best price I can find here in Canada too...

Race tires are expensive. That's likely not the best price. ;) Scrubs are your friend. Metzeler's are too expensive... Check Pro6 for some Dunlop options.

I got some scrubs from Donovan, username- reciprocity

Charged me $150 for them installed on my rims. More than i wanted to spend on scrubs, but he was a good salesman. Ended up getting some power ones, told me they should be good for a few track days at my skill level (new, lol)

Also, when we do track days at Grand bend, or TMP, can I crash at someones house the night before, to save time on the drive?

I make a kick *** breakfast!

Not a prob Nick... Got an extra room upstairs... Live right by RIM Park in the north east corner of Waterloo.

Sweet, thanks time, that is about 25-30 mins from Fergus.

keep me in the loop what you guys are doing for track days. We did 8-10 last year, always good to meet others in the business. Anyone going to SMP for the nelson date, May.7 I think w/ pro 6? The guy I usually go with is doing RACE that weekend instead

Yep, a few of us have already signed up for all 3 Pro6 SMP events. See you there!

Im going to wait closer to the date to book if there is room because of the weather.

I get 10 'sick' days a year, and must choose them wisely :)

last year it poured all morning, 1/2 the guys only brought slicks and never went out. I think there was 7 guys runing or so, then the sun came out in the afternoon, most had already left, by 2pm there was only 1 lonely CBR out on the track for the rest of the day :)

Let me know if anyone has trailer space for the May.7 date and wants to split gas.

I was there for that... sucked especially bad because I met a guy to sell him my rain wheels that weekend since I'd never used them in 2 seasons! He had fun on them. Came back the next weekend and it was beautiful, and packed since all the VRRA guys stayed for the TD. Great day though.

Hey Smergy... talked with a few guys about trailering...
You guys rent the trailer and split the gas, I'm willing to tow with my bike in the bed of my truck.
Can only take 1 person in my truck (regular cab), so if 2 of you want to share a trailer an extra support vehicle will be necessary.
3 way split on my gas if 2 people share a trailer. You guys can figure out support vehicle split.

I'm planning on hitting the first track day at Grand Bend on April 29 (think that's right) and the first May 6th day at Shannonville weather permitting. Both days won't be signed up for until about 2 weeks prior.
SpyRadar has claimed space for Shannonville already.
