Kitchener/Waterloo area, c u next trackday riders thread!

Hey Dean...
Just found that banner for the vinyl cutting again...
alteredimagegraphix.com
For the white number plate and numbers (3 sets) it was something like $24 including shipping.

Got some more dates from Racer5 where they are running their stage 1 school...

Mosport (Rider Development Track)
- Friday, June 1
- Sunday, July 8
- Wednesday, August 15

Grand Bend
- Friday, August 24

Maybe they'll be able to give a break on pricing for anyone interested in the school if enough people sign up.
I've got somewhere between 3-5 people (from off list) who are potentially interested so far. There were several guys on the regular group rides this summer who expressed some sort of interest in taking the Racer5 school this summer. Probably won't all have to be at the same track day, but it would be cool riding with friends, right?

Bigevildoer,
Racer5 currently has "show" prices, did you know that? I signed up for May 24-25, stage I and II. Grand Bend.

We may be able to get better if enough sign up. I just thought it would be easiest to get us all signing up using one person as a reference.

You'll love it... may even see you at the track that day!

Yeah, maybe I'll go for May 24th to avoid the Friday long weekend bustle. Then June 18th is Shannonville, then go for the Mosport RDT on July 8th.

I'll be at all of the SMP days again this year, on the black 08 CBR 1k in my avatar. Feel free to drop by and say hi. For any one else with the winter blah's a cheer up for the good days of summer:

How many have signed up? Would it be best if we all tried for the same class?

Apparently doesn't matter if we're all at the same day or not.
As for how many, none yet, we're hopefully getting sign ups at the show.

Nice picture. That's one of my favorite passing zones, between Allen's and Nelson's. What group are you riding in?

Does anyone have the tools that can help me replace my fork seals?

Have a few projects i want to get done before the spring, including wheel bearings.

I have a home made seal driver that I've used several times, assuming it's the right size. Should at least be able to use it to bang the bearing in until it's flush, then you might need something smaller to push it the rest of the way in (or just tap it a bit at a time around the edge with a smaller rod, which I also have).

As for the forks, they're upside down forks right? Depending on the number of hands we may or may not need a special tool. You've probably already found a how-to, but this one looks good, specifically for 954 forks, but likely the same deal.

Right when I typed that I knew somebody would quote it. Haha... At least I've used it several times, right? LOL

Hahaha lol. It takes a big man to admit that.

On a serious note, I just got a new clear windscreen for the 600, so I'm thinking about starting with the bodywork repairs.
Has anyone signed up for the Mosport day yet?

Dean, I still have yet to grab my bin of fibreglass supplies down from the shelf. I can help you out with that stuff if you want.

You mean the Mosport RDT? I'm planning to wait until closer to the date to keep an eye on the weather, like we did last year.

upper yellow or low red, depending on the mood/groups. This is a dual purpose street/track machine, so it carries some extra weight :( Finally picked up some warmers and a few sets of the new Pirelli superbike pro endurance slicks. Should be a good year

I use a piece of 2" black ABS plumbing plastic to drive the seal in. The only hard part is unloading the spring. Mine are really stiff. I have an inverted showa fork, so tie straps and some "S" clips made out of sturdy coat hangers works really well to hold the spring down, as shown here. If its anything Honda your working on, pay the extra few bucks and get the OEM seals.

Edit: a vise really helps to get the fork cap off, but be extremely liberal with the tape to protect your fork if your using it in a vise, you don't want to damage it. I like a combination of painters tape on the bottom (no residue), then hockey tape, because its a bit squishy, then lots of duct tape. When I say lots, I mean lots. Only clamp down the vise the minimum required, you don't want to bend your tubes. Be super careful with this part. The rest is pretty straight forward.

Awesome, that does sound good. You're worried about weight on a CBR1000RR?? Want to ride my SV for a session? hahaha...
