Kitchener/Waterloo area, c u next trackday riders thread!

Have you ever tried putting 2 bikes in the back of the Ranger? If you can actually get two in, side by side, without tripping and falling out of the truck on your head, you'll have issues routing straps so they don't dig into your bodywork. I put two bikes in the back of a RAM 1500 and that was bad enough. We had to make a custom mounting board so we could put the straps straight down from the lower triple clamp to avoid bodywork and pull down hard enough to keep the bike from hopping.

Admittedly, I haven't driven anywhere with 2 in the back, but I have had 2 stacked up in there. SpyRadar' Ducati 1098 and his buddy's R1.

We can always put 1 in backwards to make it easier to run the straps too. Shouldn't be all that difficult... can always do a trial run well before the track day and see how well it goes.

Other option would be renting a trailer from U-Haul. Got a hitch on the truck, so that's not a problem either.

I will have a trailer for next season, and if i don't i can borrow my buddies, and that can fit 2 bikes no problem!

Not a fan of sleeping in a tent and sleeping bag on the first week of May. i was thinking just leaving around 6ish, and maybe not staying in shannonville, but something maybe a half or an hour out, that way i have dinner at home, and just bring up some beers

Just throwing it out there!

Well, if you can grab a good sleeping bag it shouldn't be a problem...
If you still have access to the trailer, I can take my bike in the back of the truck and tow 2 bikes no problem. Looked up the tow capacity of my Ranger and it's well within spec. That way you and Dean can car share or whatever...

Only problem I can see is leaving the bikes on a trailer when we're in a hotel. Too easy to undo the straps in the dead of night and remove without permission.... ;-) at least at the track we'd be able to hear anything unsavoury going on.

We used to use a heavy chain through the wheels. Also, request a first floor room with parking in front of the patio door. Holiday Inn right by the 401 on Belleville used to be good back when I was hotelling it. There's a Tim's and Denny's near by.

I had a track day dream last night. We went to Shannonville, and for some reason I was driving my old dodge neon! We got there and the 180 that I put on the rear of the SV had deflated and come off the rim. No prob, it was a Pro6 day so I was going to just get Sandy to put on a Dunlop NTEC 160 rear, but we had forgotten my stands! Sandy said he had some I could borrow, so we went into the pit row garage at Shannonville (for those who have never been, such a garage doesn't exist) to get them but he couldn't find them anywhere. I still had the winter storage wheels on my bike (spare rims were in the trunk of the neon which was 10 times bigger than reality) and said "Oh well, I'll just ride with these crap tires and take it easy". Then all of a sudden a crazy storm rolled in and a small tornado ripped through the place! Crazy. Not a good dream!

I wasn't on anything last night, I swear. haha...

someone at work put weed in the christmas brownies, lol

Hmm... there were home made cupcakes yesterday, made by "the new girl". haha

just a heads up if anyone needs a trailer, there are a bunch of new ones for sale just off hwy 6 beside davids restaurant. 300 for the small ones.
they are just on the front yard of the house on the corner there.

David's... that's just north of Two-Wheel, right?

*EDIT*
Was bored, went and had a look.

The $300 trailer is a bolt together 4' x 4' with wooden floor, no side rails etc. Would need a piece of channel steel as a floor rail or something similar to hold a bike. Small wheels.

$600 trailer doesn't have a drop down gate at the back, so it's pretty much out.

$800 trailer has a diamond plate steel floor with drop down gate (no ramp).

So.. thinking more and more about the first Shannonville Nelson track day in 2012...
Ended up scanning a bunch of videos, and this one seems the best.

Lots of crazy long sweepers... and around the circuit in just over a minute on the video...
So, with my fat behind, 2:18 should be about right... :angry7:

And I figure it's about time I show everyone what Suzi looks like now...
Before:

So.. what's everyone think?
What did since purchasing it:

Strip almost all decals (left fork and swing arm ones)
Sand down (some serious runs in old paint.. blech...)
Bondo bits
Prime, Paint, Clear Coat
Number Plates
New foot pegs
New clutch/brake levers
New Frame Sliders
Give her a good overall cleaning
Next up in spring: New fluids and filters, air filter.

Looks great Tim! The dusty front fender is a nice touch, keeping it real. A perfectly clean track bike is bad luck. ;)

Damn your observant eyes... ;-)
I was hoping nobody would notice... but I can understand the clean = bad mojo idea!

Yo Tim - great job! The paint looks sweet. Where did you get your number decals? I've got to change / modify mine for the Pro6 trackdays... as the number 59 is not available. ( I think it's kind of silly... as its just a trackday, not an official race) I'm thinking on adding a number before, or after the 59... or it could be easily changed with electric tape into, 69, 88, 58, 89, etc., or maybe just going with a new set.

Anyway, this track season is going to be awesome!
