iPhone 5S !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Apple would be smart to release a larger screen option, however for me, the deciding factor when I acquired my last phone was the smaller size. I find some of these huge, semi-tablets awkward. I browse the Internet a bit, text a bit, take a picture now and then, talk. That's it. I don't need my phone to do much else. I use maybe 5 apps on regular basis. What I don't like about IPhone 5 is the sharply edged metal casing. The device is also too slim for my manly hands. ;) However, I do use a plastic cover so all good.
I also agree that it should be easier to customize but I don't care that much.

I also don't care what phone people have and don't understand why is it such a big deal to others. It's just a phone. Do you care care whether my tighty whities are Hanes or Fruit of the Loom?

I do find it interesting that Apple has not released an iPhone+ or iPhone Maxi or something like that with a larger screen. For some people the present iPhone size is "just right". I am going to hold off until the Note 3 comes out. The quasi tablet size makes me wonder if I could read some of my digital magazine subscriptions on it. Would make life easier on the road for sure. I rarely call on my cell phone anymore. It is used to text my wife, friends, and family, music player. e-mail, surf the web, occasional GPS use etc. From what I can see the Note 3 is going to come standard with 32G. Put a 32G micro SD card in and bingo I can put most of my music in it, some digital magazines etc. Since I do not have an iPod my cell phone doubles as my music player. 32G does not really cut it for me anymore. This kind of rules out an iPhone from the getgo which is kind of unfortunate since an iPhone is obviously an awesome MP3 player (essentially an iPod touch for free with the phone).

I have Winamp (free edition), and it'll transfer files to my iPod(s) but its riddled with bugs (sometimes is may not recognize the device and/or crap-out during transfer, or not transfer files properly) - I think if you purchase Winamp, it might work perfectly, but I don't know for sure.

Also, Winamp doesnt make it a "drag-and-drop" process, it just sync's with the iDevices library, so you'll still have to transfer files exactly as if you were using iTunes.
Thanks for the heads up. So according to what you said, if i have to do the same synch process, i might as well just stick with the free iune.

Not really, all they need to do is iron out some problems and they'll be back. As well HTC sold 5 million HTC ONES versus the 10 million Samsung S4. Which is not bad for such a small company versus the technology juggernaut of Samsung and APPLE.

The One S is a great phone.
And the profits Samsung made on the other 5million phones probably still didn't cover the promoting costs they do for their phones.
Apples needs to promote their phones as well since they all look the exact same.

A phone is a phone is boring. I'm most interested in the camera. Info here:

Pffft, 8 mega pix on the I5S. I can't wait to see a head to head comparison on Sony's new 20mp beast Z1 phone against the Apple.

IMHO, nobody does image sensing better than Sony.

No need to fret though, Sony came out with a lens adapter that fits iPhone and Androids so you can take stellar pics too.

Nokia would like to have a word....

Sony does make nice products but they always try to shove their pointless proprietary system e.g. memory stick

If you really care about your photos then invest in a DSLR or carry something like a Panasonic TZ models.

Sadly, most ppl leave their photos on their cameras or on their one computer.
Lost phone = lost photos
dead hard drive = lost photos

So it has less than half the megapixels of the Lumia 1020 then.

Sony could make a phone or a few to pretty much be the end all of phones right now.
I think their arrogance holds them back. You also need a good marketing campaign.

Oh so do i, but folder structure is exactly that without need for itune.
But with play lists I could say set a song to play for say "driving music" and again set it for "work out" music with out having to duplicate it.

as for iTunes I suspect my experience has been better because I use the macosx version instead of the windows version. I hear many complaints from customers who run windows and use iTunes (for many it works well or it doesn't work at all) and I suspect its due to issues with the USB chipsets.

Perhaps, if thats all that mattered.

Certainly can't dismiss Sony's expertise in the image field.

I like that you use megapixels as a basis for your Sony > Apple argument, but then 'megapixels don't matter' in your Nokia > Sony defense

You had it right in the end. Megapixels matter for very little else besides print size. Everyone should know by now that its a spec which simply no longer matters.

Lots of things would keep me from buying another iPhone, but the camera certainly is not one of them.

Yes, just like nobody really needs a 64 bit processor on a phone.

You can barely find a good point and shoot camera any more with less than 10mp.

Read a report that increasingly, photog's are relying on their "phones as cameras" for serious, and blown up shots, so I'd still argue that greater megapixels, to a degree, is important.

So it makes sense to equip Apples "forward thinking" I5S with a min 10mp camera. Apple fail.

What is it that the 8mp doesn't do for you exactly? You can print 8x10 @300dpi with 8 megapixels.. do you find yourself printing posters from your cameraphone? There are many better parts of the camera and lens to spend money on than increasing MP. I have a feeling you know this but you're a hardcore Apple hater so it can't apply.

There's no way any real photographer is printing large shots from their camera phone. That's ridiculous. The cameras are simply not good enough.

If viewing only at computer monitor resolution (not printing) then iPhone (4s and later) pics taken in sufficient light, are very good.

iPhone cameras have always been top notch. My Nexus is *garbage* compared to my old iPhone.

Megapixels don't matter any more.. its just the way it is. Apple easily could've stuffed more MP into the sensor if they wanted to.. they obviously have a good reason not to. Megapixels are cheap. Quality lens and sensors are not.

^ nice photo btw

I think retina scan is the future. With the face time camera, it would make more sense too.

And I was thinking a verbal password or secret question that changes randomly, with voice recognition. Basically 4 levels of biometric security along with a password. The user could choose which ones he wants to apply, from none up to 5 levels of security that combined would be as fast as a swipe but less demanding on the user.
BTW this will give Apple a step up in the coming future of mobile payments.

I remember someone telling me the same thing about i486 processors.

But what you say is true for Androids that come obsolete out of the box. For the rest of us that want to keep our phones for more than a couple of years, this kind of future-proofing is essential. Goes hand-in-hand with a secure ecosystem, long-term OS updates and hardware support, and a durable design.

I will probably hold on to my 4S for another 3 years, but if you get get bogged down with spec-sheet racing like screen size, processor speed, MP, thickness... then you would fail to appreciate that it does everything that I need it to do very well.
