Insurance Rate Increase?! How much did yours go up?

Mine went up $100 or so.. no tickets (convicted that is)... Going to shop around..

You are surprised it is cheaper to go from FULL Coverage to Liability only??? That is like saying I am amazed that I bought a Ford Focus and it was WAYYY cheaper than the Bentley I had before..lol
LOL. in your world full coverage is 400% more than liability? Fortunately most insurance companies charge additional $100 to $300 for full coverage. Now sell your Focus, add $100-$300, and buy a Bentley.

My renewal offer from TD-MM went from $830 to $917 with no change to anything. Now this is for a rider with 35+ years of unbroken motorcycle insurance and no collision coverage on the policy. Called them about it and there was nothing they could do, so I looked around online and found the same coverage offered for $820 by Intact. Needless to say my "thanks but no thanks" letter is already on its way back to TD.

Third year renewal up with TD-MM, and it's yet another increase. 1500 to nearly 1650.

23, 4 years M2 and zero accidents or tickets riding a Ninja 250r in downtown Brampton.

Very upset.

my TD-MM is up 10% too.

no change except my bike and I are a year older.

td - went up $100. same record as last year

I just cancelled my policy......enough is enough...

I spoke to my good friends who work for TDMM and they said its because all the insurance claims that they had to pay out( not motorcycle related), especially for that flood last year.

TDMM's largest shareholder: I almost couldn't afford to have my yacht re-coated in gold this year

Sent from my my mobile using a strange app for damaged people

I pay about 1500$ for my gsxr600.. now it's up to $1680 with Statefarm... I called TD.. and the BEST rate they could give me was $4500... dafuq?!

SF charges by engine size. TD probably has the same 400% super sport surcharge almost all the other companies have. There are companies that won't cover SS bikes at all (such as ThePersonal).

Mine went down $5 and I got two tickets. This sets a whole new expectation.

Maybe they didn't check your record. I went 5 years and through 3 insurance companies before one company I tried to get insurance with noticed my record had been messed up by one of my old companies because they had entered some windshield replacements as at fault collisions. Luckily a quick call to that old company got everything corrected.

Still waiting and wondering for my RBC renewal, though the date's not till the end of April. They've sent me lots of "Thank you for being our customer!" letters, which can't be good, lol.

Every year for the past three years I've had to switch insurers because the previous gang of idiots decided to raise my rates by at least a third, so I'm really hoping I don't have to go scraping around for a fourth year in a row.

34 years old (will be 35 at the time of renewal), squeaky-clean record, 750cc 1986 BMW K75, $638/year and I've managed to hold it to the $650 range by continuing to switch when my rates are raised.

went from $1100 to $380. I even called just to make sure it was correct and it was. same coverage btw. not too bad for a 750cc

How on earth does this happen???

I went up $180. I'm with TD-Primmum

I was paying 470/year for the Golding, 470 for the bandit 1200. Got a letter yesterday to tell me my renewal is coming, so I'll see what happens.

actually i misread my renewal... i went from 1329 to 1399 on my 03 R1 full coverage 2 tickets. Although, I just sold it though, so dont need it any longer, but just though i would chime in.

My bike insurance dropped $5 per month to $50 per month.... car and minivan went up $11 per month...... wife got a ticket for rolling through a stop sign last summer , so maybe that's the reason......My record is clean, full M for 36 years, bike is 996 cc's ...... Aviva don't like greater than 1000 cc bikes , especially SS's ...... My 1098 was costing me $180 per month, that's why I sold it and got a Monster........ my lower back likes the Monster better too..... Cheers , Les

I just spoke with TD and cancelled my insurance with them. I'm currently shopping... these people are out of their minds.

Exactly! The insurance companies never lose.. Its like Vegas, the house always wins. If we live in a free society, we should have the option of being insured or not. The whole insurance bit is another scam by the banks to take your money

I can respect that... but even "older" guys like me, still are getting raped, even with a couple tickets it shouldnt be the way it is, and it just sucks. The teens should definately not even be allowed on sportbikes 600cc and above, so i agree with the ins companies there, but I have paid my dues and still getting hosed.

I was just informed that my 1998 Goldwing policy was going up 10 percent to $1613.00. Over half is the basic medical benefits. No tickets since 2005or M/C claims ever. M licence since they were invented. Older than dirt.

Not only that benefits have decreased. Medical benefits are limited to $50,000 unless you buy extra coverage. In the USA that might fix a broken arm.

I have enough cash on hand that if the wife doesn't feel like cooking, a fifty dollar dinner out doesn't mean financial ruin. However I would drink my own blood before I paid $50.00 for a bottle of water just because there was a locked gate event. I'm starting to wonder if it's worth keeping a bike, not because I can't afford it but because of the screwing.

If flood damage ruined the insurer's bottom line take it out on the flooded home owners. My neighbours had flooded basements but I didn't. I had spent $10K on waterproofing years ago.

If your cage tranny packs it in on the way to work can you put it on your expense account?

1st year motorcyclist with 3 tickets and M2 -> $106.25/month. I just got my renewal, 1 ticket dropped off, $64.98/month. I might call to see if it will drop a little more if I do my M2 exit.

this is with intact.

No appreciable change from last year. 2004 ZX10R, 1990 FZR400. State Farm. 47, clean record.
