Interesting, other than "I'm using it on my boat" I don't typically get a lot of information. So perhaps my assumption for what they are being used for is incorrect? I have never had a complaint or return due to failure. I would consider my products to be of high quality compared to the 1000's of knock-offs you find on EBAY etc..@Jampy00 , every boat engine has an inline strainer, but I have never seen one fail. I guess if you have the cheaper acrylic and plastic versions you could strip the threads on a lid , but you would need to be pretty hamfisted. All the better units are made by Perko and bronze shelled with a glass insert, cork gaskets top and bottom , stainless strainer. They last 100yrs and all parts are available, in Canada. I've had boats with plastic, still working when I sold them off, if I ever needed a replacement it woud be Perko.
I'm starting to think that the fan is made of poo...How long you guys figure before the poo really hits the fan?
I saw the picture before I read the comments. Gee, that boat doesn't have a lot of freeboard.View attachment 59070
This is a boat that sank at the dock when it was not properly winterized and the glass perko stainer broke .
It was pumped out and refloated in about 2hrs . I fixed the strainer .
Cheapo clamps also sink a lot of boats . Usually at the dock .

I've had discussions in the past, as much as I enjoy the conversation it tends to take up more time than the product is worth. (I don't mean this in a rude way)@jampy , there are about a million fishing boats that use strainers and filters on live wells and fish holding tanks . Maybe some of your gear is going there . You should ask , it’s a massive market .
Hope you relocated the strainer to the correct altitude - I always make sure they are well above the waterline,. That makes for easier access for cleaning as you don't need to get into the bilge to close the seacock. Should the strainer fail, the boat won't flood (as shown above!)View attachment 59070

Value??Cushions and woodwork all dried , she sank bow down when the keel settled on the bottom so the engine sat above water , transmission was screwed , starter motor and alt, and the entire wiring harness was compromised. About 20k for a small boo-boo.

There are a large number of people who cheated CERB and Landlords during the pandemic. CERB was horribly abused, and so were landlords who were prohibited from evicting non-paying tenants - combine the two and we find hundreds of thousands in government-enabled debt. Some 'positive' news this morning regarding inflation and it's current effects...

The CEOs of Canada’s big banks said borrowers “vulnerable” to default are just a small percentage of customers, but other mortgage-holders will also have to adjust their spending.www.thestar.com

Pretty much everything in Ontario waters needs water strainers for engine cooling, washdown, AC. I have 4 on my boat, one for each motor, one for the AC, and one for the washdown & head water pump.Cushions and woodwork all dried , she sank bow down when the keel settled on the bottom so the engine sat above water , transmission was screwed , starter motor and alt, and the entire wiring harness was compromised. 32 footer dual engine cruiser::Value??
There was a news item about a Viking 28 moored out in IIRC Hamilton Harbour, appearing abandoned but in reasonable shape. It apparently had a decent history in racing until the 90 year old owner sold it. Then it passed through a few hands and there is speculation that the present owner has either lost interest in the boat or lost interest in spending the required coin to keep it in a manner it had become accustomed. (Mortgage renewal?)
Dumped boats are a problem in many areas.
What would be a typical budget for a 28-30 footer? I budgeted $5K a year for an older Chris Craft, dockage, fuel, insurance and maintenance but that was ten years ago.
Being an older boat it seems the values are extremely low, mid four figures.
Salvage parts are minimal so scrapping it would cost. Unlike a car where there is recyclable metals, fiberglass is pay to transport and dump.
Poor people can't afford to keep boats that can't be trailered. Rich people don't want old boats.
A junior chicken at McDs is $3.19! Wtf that used to be dollar value picks. At least Timmies donuts are not $3.
In typical liberal fashion, No transparency or accountabilityWhat's this two - fifteen billion dollars for?
She wants the money even before the corp. is set up, sight unseen.
Anyone remember what Chretien got turfed for?
