ATTN:Red and White Gixxer 600 on Balmuto

You have left your lights on.

could have easily just turned the lights off for that person....

not sure how the light are on unless the keys are in the ignition and in the on postion... but all bikes are different...

Re: ATTN:Red and White Gixxer 600 on Balmuto

GSXRs have a parking light function. When he locked the steering probably turned too far and left the lights on.

Re: ATTN:Red and White Gixxer 600 on Balmuto

may be he/she turned the key all the way to p position, which will cause lights to be on.

Yup, this. I've done it on occasion.

The extra click of death. I'm pretty sure everyone has a story about how they ****ed themselves over once (or twice).

Many (most) bikes with fuel injection will not start via a push start if the battery is dead. Possibly if it is just run down a bit. Many cars also. The ECU, fuel pump, fuel injection system, ignition system (for da sparkplugs...) require at least +5 vdc to run, in very basic terms. Boosting a bike with a a dead battery can damage the electrical/electronics also.

Today's bike are not your dad's old bikes of years gone by.

Can anyone comment on this? This is the first time i've read this before.

It should work if the batter isn't entirely flat. If it is, it probably won't. I don't know exactly why, but that's my experience. My dumb *** guesses: not enough power for the fuel pump, ECU not getting enough voltage to not shoot out garbage.

Re: ATTN:Red and White Gixxer 600 on Balmuto

What's the point of these "parking lights"? No other bikes (to my knowledge) have these. Seems like an accident waiting to happen.

Re: ATTN:Red and White Gixxer 600 on Balmuto

They're actually to prevent an accident. If you were to pull over on the side of the road and shut off the engine you could leave the rear lights all on so that you can still be seen while parked or stopped.

Every bike I've owned has had "parking lights"... one extra click past the steering lock.

Edit: Every STREET bike I've owned... EXCEPT the one I currently own. After I clicked "Submit" my brain started telling me I was wrong.

Me - black Ninja 250, taking off from TEL/Seneca.
You - black Ninja 250, riding towards there =)

I saw you had a GoPro on the side of your helmet. If I am in a video, I would like to see what I look like on the road lol

The gixxer will work if you bump start it as long as the battery isn't completely dead. Leaving your lights on for a few hrs wont completely kill your battery. I've left mine on for a few days and still bump started my bike.
