I never liked marine land

Am I'm the only poster who's actually been to Marineland in the past 365 days? I'm no expert on animal care, but I can say in my opinion, the animals appeared healthy and performed extremely well.

Do you know how they behave in the wild? I can honestly say I've never seen a wild sealion balancing a ball on his nose flapping his flippers and barking for sardines.

You're the only one who can stomach their commercials too.

Here's the problem, those tanks look huge but it's hard to keep water chemistry constant in a small space. I keep marine fish and it's a constant battle to keep saltwater healthy and within parameters. Also all these mammals are extremely communal animals, keeping them alone or in small groups isn't natural at all. The tanks aren't deep enough in some cases for the animals to dive to keep out the sun. On the whole,it's a miserable ****ing existence for such relatively intelligent animals to endure so some people can gawp at them or pay top dollar to swim with them. All of them should be shut down IMO.

My kids sing the jingle at verbatim and asked to enter their singing jingle contest they had going.

We know you are only there to watch the dinner and pick which ones you are going to get. Don't even try to fool us into think you were there for the show.

Im not talking about the health of the animals, or their treatment by staff/trainers.

I'm talking about keeping a killer whale in a friggin fishbowl. These creatures have migration patterns which span 1000+ kilometers. They're known to travel 150+ KM per day in their natural habitat, but Marineland keeps them in a ****ing pool.

I'm also talking about dozens of black bears stuck in a small concrete and grass enclosure together, when individuals roam up to 50 square miles in their natural habitat.

Same thing with Belugas.. these things roam thousands of kilometers of oceans, and Marineland (and other parks) keep them in pools for decades.

And what's it all for? For our selfish entertainment. Why do people even want to go see these poor caged animals? I haven't been to Marineland in 18 years. I also haven't visited a zoo in that time either. It's all just a little too ridiculous for me.

Free Willy group ride???

Kill him, he'll probably like it more than his current arrangement.

I guess they just spend all their profits on psychologically raping young minds over decades rather than put it back into better facilities. Seriously how many tens of millions of dollars must they have spent playing those god damn commercials? I feel like i've had them ringing in my head for my entire life. Stop the cruelty, end marineland commercials!

Also I have never been there, ever. Probably to spite those **** commercials more than anything.

I find it amusing that people who read this thread and think those guys are lying are the same people that read the self defense threads and believe every word of that ****.

Hearing from coworkers that had to drive by this morning on the way in to work that they have a group of protestors out front this morning

Wow... marine land is going down! They need to take control of all the negative press and fast. Time to hire a publicist?

Nope...Since the stories have run, there's been no change in traffic. Let's not forget Niagara Falls is a major global tourist destination that attracts 12 million people a year, who don't read the Toronto Star.
