HP pad instead of Ipad

Just got back from BB @ STC - only have 32's left. 16's ALL gone.

Grabbed one - here's the catch - I had to pay full price and i'll have to go back and get price protection when the sale price gets into their system or whatever.

The flyer I just got says 449

Sale is legit. Hopefully I can get the PP done before my credit card statement comes.

dam shame, such amazing operating system killed by a bunch of monkeys, and by consumers that don't have the knowledge.

anyone should grab one, cheaper than a kendle...... "face palm"

shoe post your impression about it. I can show you how to ramp the speed to 1.5 and get homebrew free apps

Ah crap I should've checked there too. Oh well....apparently The Source has them as well so I'll check them out tomorrow.

I haven't opened it yet. I'm hoping to grab a 16gb unit and i'll return this one if I can get it.

I checked all of the BB stores on via their web page - ALL 16's gone.
Future Shop has "in stock" in Belleville but that could mean 1 or even nothing in stock.

The Source is showing some in stock. I noticed that too.
You live in Scarborough. We'll see who gets it before they're gone. haha

what about the suckers, er people, who bought one of these things for full pop when it just came out? Do they get refunds, price match or the HP shaft?

I think it's the shaft end for those people.
Early adopters always take the risks and pay the price. (see iphone 4 release fail)

HAHA, you rock. LMAO
Not understanding laughs but it must be because I slept on the wrong side of the bed last night.

I am getting a full refund for mine and upgrading to the 32g for 150. It doesn't get any better. i am happy with the apps I already have so for that price I am satisfied. Hopefully WEBOS will be licensed to others, this may actually be a good thing on the long run, there is just no way to compete with the Sheeps, I'll give apple the kudos for knowing how to market to them.

Holy crap! This device is more popular in it's death than in it's life!
Went to Fairview mall 9:!5... 15 people outside. More than the number of units showing online.

Okay.. so plan B. Eglinton Square. Store had JUST opened when I got there. There were a few people asking the clerk. He said they were all gone.
I mentioned that I had just come from another store and there was a lineup outside. He said there was on at store too.

Plan C now. The secret is out and everyone going for the 16gb's so I go to BB on Warden since I'm close by and check it out.
The store isn't open yet so I'm hopeful. I'm just looking to get another unit at this point.
Employee comes out - "I assume you're all waiting for the Touchpad. We sold out last night. I don't want you all to waste your time waiting".
crap.

I know STC had 5 left last night so I run over there. I as I'm going in, I pass a guy leaving with one in his hands - 4 left.
I get to the counter and... you guessed it. Sold out.

I should've bough another last night. I could've probably flipped it and made some money.

Hope you had better luck Flashmonkey.

Looks like I'm keeping this one - Dollarama has small notebook totebags. Not as thick padding as my other one but for $2... meh...

Ebay has a tidal wave of TouchPads for sale, and oddly enough they ALL say "Brand new in box" or "Unopened".
Bahaha!!

Oh wait, I work for a division of HP that is part of their Home division....
*starts to refresh résumé*

I never liked Apple products because quite frankly there is a ton of things to hate about them ... Apple fanbois among the top things to hate (and the closed nature of the products)

BUT, I got an iPad2 (32gig 3G) for my birthday in June and I LOVE it ... It's with me almost everywhere I go.

as you can see, the marketing didn't work for this dude, the fanbois didn't work either, and the steve jobs thingy.

finish this off with a re-read
I don't think I would own an iPhone or a Mac desktop/laptop, but the iPad is probably the best gadget I have ever owned. I love it ... it's fantastic at what it does. It has it's limits (no flash so some websites don't work well), but it's one of the few things that I use each and everyday and it just seems to get better and better when you discover things to do with it that you didn't know about the day before

Say what you will about Apple and the stigma attached with the arrogance of the fanbois ... the iPad is a terrific product.

I haven't tried the Android or HP tablets, but I can't imagine that they are better (or even on par at this point ... maybe in the future) than the iPad is right now

now what will dude say when iOS 5 releases this FALL, damn....

I told y'all before, when iOS 5 releases.... people are gonna go Bonkers!!!!!!

I hope the flippers/hoarders find out that people are only interested in these things because of the price they are now being sold at in stores. I heard rumours that there's another big shipment of tablets on its way to Canada and thi is now the normal price of the units. This is also funny that a tablet with similar functionality to the ipad is selling for 1/5 of the price.

Well I didn't get crap haha. Drove down to Shoppers World on Danforth this morning to visit a 'The Source' that supposedly had one in stock...no luck. Came back to a line-up at the Scarborough Best Buy at 9:50 am, only to be told that they only had 4 units left. Those were sold before we even got into the store.

The good news is that I walked out of there with a collector's edition blu ray of The Big Lebowski.....so the day wasn't a total waste. ;)

Have you guys tried calling HPshopping directly and see if they have stock. They're advertising for $100 and $150 @ rfd.

Apple has made it very hard for competitors to match iPad pricing since day one. Looks like the only way they can beat iPad pricing is by pulling out of the business and offering refunds on all purchased tablets :laughing8:

Have you considered this may be a stunt to undercut all other tablet manufacturers and establish a sizeable base for web OS? After all, someone who buys an HP touchpad is unlikely to buy another tablet.

man I have been thinking that for 2 days now but that would have been a move that cost HP valuable shares and I am not sure they would wanna risk it, but the end result is a bunch of brand new people using webOS and realizing how good it is that otherwise would have got an iPad.

I don't care if HP loses as long as somehow webOS persists
