How to get M1 license without knowing any English?!?

Maybe it's not that his father wants it so bad. Judging by a thread in the insurance thread, it may be more case of junior wanting it so bad so he can get insurance cheaper as an occasional operator of "his father's" motorcycle, even though that motorcycle will be ridden primarily by junior. :D

That was actually his reason for him to get his M license.

They do have a test that you have to pass in order to your citizenship but i don't think its a language test. I think its a test about Canada like the history, the national anthem, what does the beaver represent, and stuff like that.

If your father can pass a test on Canada History, why can't be pass a test on an M1 license. ?

He may not be a citizen yet..dunno, just saying. And the M1 is probably a lot harder than the citizenship test!!

Internet seems to make everything so complicated....and lead to pointless arguments...

Simple solution, Spend $15 and just have him take the M1 test, and maybe he'll pass...
The English written on the test isn't hard to comprehend.

Okay, now I get it. Your dad just wants to get a license but not actually ride a motorcycle. It's all clear now.

The thread isn't about spending the $15 for the test. Its actually $17.5 now. If he were to get an interpreter it would cost him $115 to do the M1 test and $400+ to do the M1 Exit to get an M2.

Let me just requote the whole sentence...

Its not my choice, its his choice. Hes been riding for many years back in China but has given up on riding when he moved to Canada. But now that our life is more financially stable hes able to start riding again.

Yes, and while we're at it...we can buy a 15 dollar book in another language that we don't understand.

The m1's pretty tricky.

Well since this is all in the name of long term savings from the Insurance companies, I still have yet to determine why you don't pay for the translator??

Generally I have found that foreign people are smarter than your average North American when it comes to money and ways to save it. You sound as though you are, yet you are unwilling to make the "long term" investment of $100 in order to save what I am sure will amount to THOUSANDS over the next few years.

To add on to what he said.

They don't have a Chinese version of the M1 guidebook. Tried looking in pmall and Downtown.

Save? I'm not going to save on insurance. Even if he does get the license and get insurance. Its still going to be rated after me because i have a higher risk profile.

Chalk it up to the expense of riding a motorcycle...like...say...GAS!! If I want to ride...I have to pay for GAS...if your dad wants to ride..he has to pay for a translator!! Adapting isn't that difficult...is it?

Motorcycles are not a necessity...they aren't going to create the test in umpteen different languages for leisure only.

Oh..and IBTL!! :)

I think we're done beating the horse.. It's over!!

Yes... and i have decided to just give up and let him figure it out himself. Either get the translator or find another way on his own.

So maybe he should wait another year or two when his english improves enough for him to be able to do the test and course without requiring the services of a translator. Either that...or pay for a translator.

See, those are really your only two options. Coming on here and trying to start another "let's get the government to do more stuff for us" thread is not going to accomplish anything other than providing for some light entertainment...as most people here won't agree with you.
