I like how the police announce that they're actually working. LOL
"Hey guys! We're gonna be out enforcing the laws this week! Oh... Last week? Yeah... Uhh we were investigating some crimes... Yeah... Yeah!"
I've always thought this too! haha!
Sadly though, what I am beginning to think now is that it's one more thing that we are being conditioned to accept as normal police behaviour.
I believe that neither the OPP nor any other Police Dept. should announce that they are targeting any segment of the general population that isn't up to something criminal because it is harrassment.
I think that the OPP and other Police could use the opportunity of more people being 'out and about' for more useful purposes like searching for missing and abducted children and actually responding to complaints in under 2 hours, which would be a change for a holiday weekend.
The Public is getting used to the idea that they should fear the Police and they are ALL POWERFUL. They are allowed to beat you mercilessly for no reason at a protest when you do nothing to instigate it, they can seize your vehicle and suspend your license with only their own story of events without the due process of being judged in court.
Yes fellow Canadians, the government and Police are a lot different than in the Canada that I grew up in.
Thanks to McGuinty and Fantino, our rights are slowly being erroded to the point where we accept it as normal.
If the Police were so concerned about driver safety, why are they still just giving out tickets?.....judging by the people I see getting on the 401 doing 50 km/h and taking a nap in the left lane, I'd say that's not working. If they really want to make a difference, change the habits of the people that are hazards on the highways, not announce a BLITZ where thousands of people nail the brakes when they see an OPP sitting in the median because they're terrified of them.........I doubt they're helping much then.
