heads up! O.P.P. safety blitz this whole week.

The "blitzs" and "RIDE" programs only at certain times of the year made me laugh when I came to this province. I was used to police doing their jobs any day of the week. Its just publicity and money/revenue gathering. When I first came here an people told me of the speed trap practice, I didnt believe them until I saw it for my self.

just look at the bayview extension...they dropped the speed limit from 70 to 60 because there are alot of cyclists...LOL what a joke.

now every EVERY ****ing day there are cops doing radar...its disgusting how they operate here...honestly

I take sadistic pleasure parking near where people park away from the masses. Especially the turds who take 2 places on an angle.
OPP bright sparks on motorcycles using their radar on cagers on the Hwy 6 south bypass at Ancaster.

That's not it. They are beefing up traffic enforcement with OT officers. It's an excellent cash grab with the excuse of making us safer.

Exactly... do y'all really think that this makes drivers safer? Really?

Answer that question next week.

You sir are a bit of a dick then... I park far away and take two spaces (again away from everyone else, settle down lot nazis)
I do this bc I have an all original classic car. Why would you park beside me. Its just ignorant

this usually means it's the start of the summer driving season! careful out there guys! May24 weekend ALL the idiots come out to drive!

too late.. i've been out since i started being an idiot.

the hypocrisy is unreal, when they do their jobs... we cry they should be solving homicides

when we average 5deaths/day on the roads last week... we cry where art thou?

i guess the need-for-speed sorority wants carte blanche 365 and reduced life expectancy

Changes nothing for me.

Me too, I see them every day, southbound on don mills just before York mills, again at the DVP entrance, and again at the Richmond exit. I am simply a calm driver/rider and they are simply doing their job. I wished they are all over the place to catch a fraction of the stupidity that I see daily. I would rather see them out in full force than to read a biker is dead because of a reckless driver. I pray that this weekend goes by without a road fatality (including the animals for the tree huggers on this forum).

Simply put, what we want is for the police to make society (our roads included) safer, not a source of revenue. As an example, steady flow of traffic going 20km/h over a ridiculously low set speed limit is not unsafe; yet a location with such limit would be ideal for a speed trap. To really 'protect' and 'serve' us, the people, the police would have to do actual work.

I agree...I hope that we don't see any fatalities on the roads this weekend but unfortunately history will repeat itself as it does every long weekend. Ride safe everyone and enjoy the warm weather!

I would be all for an enforcement blitz week if they would just p1ss off for the rest of the year.

Speeding improves traffic flow by using up otherwise unused road space. It's a goddamn public service. You're welcome.

I will just ride less for the next couple of weeks. I can't be bothered to be looking out for police when there are so many other psychos on the road that you legitimately need to get away from. Anyway, everyone speeds, being caught is random, and an enforcement blitz just clusters up the odds. Right now, the only way to win is not to play.

Meh, it's just that time of the year again...ride safe everyone..

Wow, they weren't ****ing kidding. Last night was obnoxious. SOMEONE, CLOSE THE GATE TO THE PIG FARM!!!!!!!!!!!

Drove to and from Montreal yesterday. No cops in Quebec, but at least 5 parked along the ontario stretch of the highway both outbound and inbound and some drive-alongs as well. Be careful lads.

I like how the police announce that they're actually working. LOL

"Hey guys! We're gonna be out enforcing the laws this week! Oh... Last week? Yeah... Uhh we were investigating some crimes... Yeah... Yeah!"

I've always thought this too! haha!

Sadly though, what I am beginning to think now is that it's one more thing that we are being conditioned to accept as normal police behaviour.
I believe that neither the OPP nor any other Police Dept. should announce that they are targeting any segment of the general population that isn't up to something criminal because it is harrassment.
I think that the OPP and other Police could use the opportunity of more people being 'out and about' for more useful purposes like searching for missing and abducted children and actually responding to complaints in under 2 hours, which would be a change for a holiday weekend.
The Public is getting used to the idea that they should fear the Police and they are ALL POWERFUL. They are allowed to beat you mercilessly for no reason at a protest when you do nothing to instigate it, they can seize your vehicle and suspend your license with only their own story of events without the due process of being judged in court.
Yes fellow Canadians, the government and Police are a lot different than in the Canada that I grew up in.
Thanks to McGuinty and Fantino, our rights are slowly being erroded to the point where we accept it as normal.
If the Police were so concerned about driver safety, why are they still just giving out tickets?.....judging by the people I see getting on the 401 doing 50 km/h and taking a nap in the left lane, I'd say that's not working. If they really want to make a difference, change the habits of the people that are hazards on the highways, not announce a BLITZ where thousands of people nail the brakes when they see an OPP sitting in the median because they're terrified of them.........I doubt they're helping much then.

You know what, you said it well. This is why I make the comments I do about cops. The are not law enforcement anymore, they are traffic act enforcement and insurance company strong arms. They deserve zero respect from the general public.

I have had my share of experiences with these clowns and it progressively has gotten worse over the years.

Btw I am near the York Pork headquarters and there is a lot of activity there (more so than usual). Cruisers from all regions are there, looks like they are setting up for something this weekend (as in, bigger than most years).

but the police aren't responsible for posted speed limits, it's the local residents & councilmen that ***** and complain about people speeding in their neighbourhoods, while the walk their kids to school in a 40 zone; i assure you, i've seen people petition for increase police enforcement especially for stop signs & speeding

what's wrong with quotas? it just means they're accountable for their clocked hours, we complain when we see OPP cruisers at Tim Hortons (not doing their jobs), but when they do actual traffic enforcement (we scream PIGS... QUOTAS)

why do we assume/pretend to even know anything about police work? when what we see is probably a fraction of their daily duties

Another "police should be looking for missing children" post, i'd love for them to search for Pre-90s Missing Children as well rather than do RIDE checks... drinking and driving da bestus

2 hours to respond = must be a high priority call, did you come back from vacation to find your car vandalised? I'm sure the Police responding in 2 minutes will help find the culprit. They shouldn't be responding to gunshots... but to your problem first.

they can seize your vehicle and suspend your license with only their own story of events without the due process of being judged in court.
Driving is not a privilege but a god-given birth right, no one should be allowed to take that from you

Law Enforcement enforcing the Traffic Act? YOU DON'T SAY?

i agree we should be allowed to pick and choose which part of the traffic act we feel like following, no one should tell us what to do

.......to quote a recent post in another thread:......Fantino, is that you?!

I've seen two TPL motorcycles sitting in traffic so WATCH OUT all you lane splitters! They can just as easily follow along now =S

ok smart ***. How much have you dealt with cops? Please go ahead and tell me your experiences!

My point is that cops are not LAW ENFORCEMENT because they dont do real police work. Such as catching criminals commiting crimes (as opposed to catching speeders and harassing car/bike enthusiasts).

And the HTA isn's LAW its an ACT, they are different. We have just been trained to think otherwise
