hd hero2 out

Most interesting feature for me is the better low light capability, cant wait to see if night footage is actually viewable...

Picking up my Replay XD tonight. Hopefully I'll get a chance to mount it and give it a test tomorrow.

post a review... I like the look of the camera. Not going to replace my HD170 but it might be good as a second camera

Check the website again. It has been updated; it is the Hero2.

WOOOHOOO... I got two this morning.

nice one! Hopefully we see some real world footage soon.. and also more details on the WiFi BacPac

Will do. I'm buying in hopes that it'll make a good new primary camera, with my Contour HD becoming a secondary and facing backwards. I'm thinking that it would be a good idea to have them shoot essentially the same thing, at the same time, as a test.

that XD looks interesting... did you pick it up locally?

Nope, ordered it directly from the site. It's waiting for me to pick it up, at the Post Office, on my way home tonight.

*EDIT* I can already tell you that the Replay both has better sound and functions better in the dark, than the Contour HD does.

Real world recording time for the Replay 1080XD, at 720P/60FPS, is almost exactly 90 minutes. Less than I'd hoped, but usable.

I did a quick vid, showing how good it is in the dark. Unfortunately the conversion to YouTube introduced some compression artifacts, but it's still not bad overall. If you want to see a few minutes of my back, while riding, go nuts.

From that camera angle without any of the bike showing it looks like you are just running really really fast down the highway lol! It's cool how relflective that strip on your back is too, you can see the camera mount? inside there it looks like almost like a mirror. How was it mounted?

They provide a few mounts and two camera clamps, with the camera. The mounts use double sides tape. There are two that are meant for mounting on a curved surface, like a helmet, and one flat one. I put the flat one on the top of my Givi top box, with the camera pointing towards my back.

If you had the audio going then that flapping sound, while I was at speed, is the flapping of a lanyard that I rigged up to save the camera, in case the mount pulled loose. You can see it in the shadow, on my back.

that's very good low light performance!!! My GoPro HD sucks in low light (even indoors)

I wish the battery life was better but the overall performance is good enough, that I've ordered a second one.

i'm curious: why do you need to be able to record continuously for more than 2.5 hours at a time?

Whenever I use my GoPro HD, it's just for short jaunts. I don't think I've recorded a clip longer than 30 minutes.

Well it only gives an hour and a half. It would be nice to get maybe 120 minutes of real world recording, out of a charge, because that's roughly how long my round trip commute is (30-35 minutes in the morning, plus 75-90 minutes in the afternoon). If I forget the USB cable, which I have a couple of times now, then it won't last the day. The first time I forgot it was a clear Monday and the power ran out exactly when I pulled up in front of my house.

On the upside they say that they're releasing a cigarette lighter power cable, in December, like the one they have for the lower spec ReplayXD.
