hd hero2 out

I thought when the you slowed stuff down the fps went up as in 1000 and 2000 fps is super slo motion?

So if you shot it in 120fps and slowed it down 25% it would be 480fps?

1000 or 2000 fps refers to the capture frame rate. The playback framerate most commonly sits around 30fps, sometimes 15, sometimes 60. So those 2000 frames captured in one second will take over a minute to play back at 30 fps, making the action appear slow.

Man, I'm so out of touch with technology.
My girlfriend got me the Hero2 and this thing is a lot more complicated than it seems.

Is there a way to mount the camera without the casing?
If any of you can guide me to a user manual for dummies, please share your wisdom

Thank you!

You could always rig something up with tie wraps or tape I guess. That's what I did with my old pocket camera before it died. But the GoPro is meant to be used in harsh environments so the case is usually a good idea anyways. I'm gonna get the 'skeleton' casing that will give me access to all the ports so I don't have to keep removing it to charge it or transfer images (unless it's wet of course then I have to use the sealed housing).

As for instructions, there are videos on YouTube that may help. The settings are changed basically like a regular wristwatch. Use the front button to scroll through the menus/options, as shown on the display, and then press the top button when you want to select whatever menu or option you've highlighted.

i will be selling the extra LCD BacPac i have. If anyone wants it let me know.
I'll give it up for a decently low price

Did anyone buy the Hero 2 from the gopro.com ?
How much does the final cost come to ? Do I have to pay taxes at the door during delivery ?

Just trying to figure what is the cheapest way to go with this..

Couple of questions for the Tech gurus.

I just picked up a memory card today and played around with this camera for a bit.
When I loaded the video on my computer, realplayer becomes the default player.
However, the video is really choppy and does not play smoothly like a youtube video would.
I'm assuming it's my computer, is it a memory issue? any help there is appreciated...

Second question, I believe you can adjust the pov from 170 to 127 to narrow?
If so, how can you actually select/choose between different modes?

Thanks and I apologize if my questions seem retarded! :)

edit: downloaded the GoPro Cineform studio and the videos are loading quite smoothly...
Still learning how to edit videos using Windows movie maker (Thanks Rob) pretty easy program, nothing too complicated... We'll see how my productions turn out when the season comes.

Still waiting for an answer on how to adjust the angles if it's at all possible.

First off, delete RealPlayer. Then download VLC. VLC will play practically anything.

In your manual it says to look at the resolution mode menu and change your FOV there.

Got it, thanks a lot for your help.
I had it set at 720-60 and I thought that I'd be able to select the fov modes in any resolution setting.

I'm completely blank when it comes to this kind of stuff, so any help is appreciated
.
What are the differences between the different modes?
i.e. wvga-60. wvga-120, 720-30, 720-60, 960-30, 960-48, 1080-30

I understand the 720/960/1080 are the resolution settings and the numbers following are frames/second.
Are there any noticeable differences between the different settings?
What mode are you guys usually using?
What's wvga?

I'm sure I have more q's but that will do for now.

Thanks!

WVGA is 800×480 so 480p.

I use 720P in 60 FPS mode, for some awesome slow mo's.

720P vs 1080P on a computer monitor wont be any different, but on a big TV it will. But probably only when your close and not sitting on your couch.

Note that 720P in 60FPS mode takes up the same amount of space as the 1080P 30fps mode.

Still waiting for an answer on how to adjust the angles if it's at all possible.

For now, the camera has to be in 1080p mode in order to give you the field of view options. In the settings, the field of view setting comes right after the resolution setting, so as you scroll through check to make sure you're at 1080p then go to the next setting and enter that menu to select 90, 127, or 170. Remember, the front button scrolls through the menus and the top one selects them.

Having said that, it appears to me that the narrower viewing angles are nothing more than a digital zoom, meaning you're likely better off recording in full 1080p and then cropping it in your video editing software later (if you can). It seems to give better quality results at wide angle and strangely, a smaller file size. I actually feel a little ripped off about the so-called viewing angle options.

Actually, there's a huge difference between 720p and 1080p. Most people now have 1080p or more for computer monitors. Also you are sitting 2 to 3 feet away from your screen.

If you can't see the difference between 1080p and 720p on your TV then you are sitting too far from your screen.

I sit about 12 feet away from my 120" TV.

If anyone is interested, I'll be posting a video in the multimedia section, showing a comparison between the Contour HD and the Replay XD1080, in various lighting conditions.
