Has the city lost it's mind...

Priorities

I had to go into the core of the rotten apple today and saw one cyclist using the bike lanes on Bloor through Bloor West Village. I saw hundreds of pedestrians walking along the sidewalks. Many were elderly and using canes. These are people that are no longer agile and are susceptable to fall injuries. Their bones are brittle.

The city has prioritized the snow plowing of bicycle lanes, used by people with other transportation options and more likely to survive a fall.

When you use your 10 yo kid (presumably yours) to help commit B&E, the kid doesn't have a bright future. Hopefully they can stick him with child endangerment or something to get the kid to someone that cars about them and try to teach some morals. Or is this dbag just getting random neighbourhood kids to play a role in which case all parents need to refresh the stranger danger talk.

"According to police, a boy between the ages of 10 and 12 rang the doorbell of a home near Rodick Road and 16th Avenue in Markham, telling the homeowner they had inadvertently kicked a ball into their backyard and wanted help getting it back.

The homeowner agreed and walked with the boy into the backyard to look for the ball.

When they couldn’t find it, police say the child left.

But when the homeowner returned to the front of the house, they noticed an adult male exiting the residence.

“The investigation revealed that as the complainant brought the child to the backyard, an adult male emerged from a hiding spot and snuck into the residence through the unlocked front door,” a police release explained.

“The suspect went through some rooms, stole cash from a purse and then exited the front door. It is believed the suspect arrived in the neighbourhood in a black 2020 Honda Civic with a faded licence plate.”"

Wow....just wow...

Who uses the gift cards they stole? That is the dumbest thing I've heard in a while. It's a little suspicious when you have tens of thousands in gift cards every week. Discount them and sell them on kijiji like normal scumbags and they get sprinkled all over and you aren't on video using the cards. From the pictures, they are either sparkies or supplying sparkies as they have a lot of wire. If the wire was being resold, the sparkies that used these guys as their supplier won't be happy going back to full price wire. Maybe these guys were GC's and hiring sparkies labour only?

Well at least they're not renaming the entire street...so it will be cheaper to just rename some city assets.

Still dumb. But not as dumb.

I have to buzz to get into my local drug store due to the number of gang robberies. One adult sits in a car and a bunch of juveniles do the robbing. Steal what you can while you're a juvie.

I will see that and raise you having to get buzzed in to the Source in Dundas.

More like someone goes to the back then tells you they don't have what you wanted take another guess out of the catalog and waste more time while they look again

Amazon robot store. Go to the side of the warehouse, punch your order into a terminal, swipe your credit card and in a few minutes your order comes out the chute.

Doesn’t sound all that bad…
Nope. Presumably you could pre-order as well and type in your confirmation number to get your bin. Biggest issue may be parking as I suspect it would be quite popular. Saves a ton of time if you need it asap and they save on the shipping. Inside is probably already set up well enough, they just need the order terminals and something to supply bins/boxes through the wall.

Or just purchase from home and pick up at warehouse, using a set time for pickup.
Just like curbside pickup during the Pandemic.

What's it mean? It doesn't sound inclusive.

Sankofa? How is that better? Could think of 100 better Canadian names.
The concept of Sankofa originated in Ghana and refers to the act of reflecting on past teachings, to allow people to move forward together.

Wasn't Ghana the centre of the African slave trade?

Salaga is a town and is the capital of East Gonja district, a district in the Savannah Region of north Ghana. Salaga had a 2012 settlement population of 25,472 people. Salaga became the largest slave market where people were bought, sold, or traded for cattle, nevertheless, between the 18th and 19th centuries.

Should have made it simple.

“ Woke Square” would capture the thinking.
