God damn! That thing is sweet! My younger sisters first car was a 240sx, with an auto. Took two years to sell it, every young guy would call and go " oh, it's automatic?" And hang up. Lol

I've driven several "manumatics" by a bunch of different manufacturers. In the end it always just feels like a gimmick and I end up switching back to fully automatic mode within minutes. Not the same at all. Like others said, I don't need the fastest car nor the fastest shifting. I actually went out of my way to find a manual SUV and quite like it. I am, however, glad the Gallardo I got to drive was manual.

Sorry I misunderstood! Glad to see another manual lover. Save the manuals!
I ordered a new car in 2012. They wanted another $1000 for automatic. I told them...

Forgetaboutit!

Beautiful.....HEY ROASTED I GAVE A COMPLIMENT TO SOMEONE WHO DESERVED IT
Well, that is a pretty sweet looking car.....maybe you're not a complete downer.

I was actually debating on getting my car with DCT but at the end of the day, I just prefer the feel of a stick..........no homo. I think the DCT version is something like 0.2 seconds faster at 0-60 mp/h. It does seem like stick is slowly going the way of the dodo though.

I'm thinking had you got a 545i with 80k and rolled 200k on it your life may have been different, I don't like BMW maintenance one bit.

the 2 happiest days in a high end german car owners life,

the day he buys it, and the day he sells it.....

I don't always agree with this guy, but this is a big thumbs up

I dunno, Im a total gearhead and I can overlook costly maintenance to drive something nice/fun. I'd like to get a 535i (rwd) with the sport automatic for my next car. $700 for a plug&play tune on a totally stock N54 nets almost 100whp... that's my kinda thing!

Tiptronics on bmws are known to fail at 100k. Be warned

Like which ones? "Tiptronic" means nothing.. maybe you're referring to SMG failures in the E46 and E60 cars. Especially costly to fix.

The 535 I want has an automatic ZF transmission, they're supposed to be very tough. And its "just" an automatic, it should last a long time.

Ok, you're on the right track

ahhh, no. I think you're confuing german cars with boats. It makes me happy every single time I drive it. Can't wait for April to take her out of storage.

Worse yet German Boats. We had a Bavaria sailboat in the family for a while , depreciation was about 100k in three years. Didn't help that there were some keels falling off that model, it went to a new home in the American south. Floating condo now I hear.

There's a reason why 5 year old German cars depreciation drops like a rock.....

Just look at triple M's post. Even he is foolish enough to pick one up.

All high end stuff tanks in value. I like that depreciation. It means dudes like me can afford to drive fancy $60-80k sedans when they come off lease lol

The fear is overblown. After 4 years you can easily find out what to stay away from and what to perform certain preventive maintenance on.

If I wasnt married I'd probably have a v10 m5 in the garage right now too haha

True. I look at BMW 850Cis on Kijiji and think, I could actually go and buy a car with a V12 right now. It might even remain driveable for as long as a month

That's one way of looking at it. Another way is that it "bent a pulley" (sounds like bent a crank to me) at least three times. I am not personally familiar with this car, I just know that Simon George himself wrote this only three years after he bought it.

It it was run on the track as a rental and the pully bent after over
40000 miles and lambo fixed it because they said they had never seen that before on a street car

German cars depreciate like rocks but Hondas don't right?
A 10 year old Honda will probably sell for the same as a 10 year old BMW that cost twice as much.

Yeah I considered a Maserati a couple of years ago. Mechanic told me to stay away from them.
