Had someone act like an ******* to me cause of the car I drive

Yeah I know. Gallardo might work its way down to 40s eventually.

There's a reason why 5 year old German cars depreciation drops like a rock.....

Just look at triple M's post. Even he is foolish enough to pick one up.

A few years ago someone was trying to sell an S600 ~5 years old on GTAM, it was approaching give it away pricing. IIRC it was ~20K and dropping the last time I looked. From a car that started at ~$140K that's brutal.

don't be silly, according to the gtam pundits, high end germans maintain their value....

The flagships are the worst of the bunch by far. S class and 7 series arent cars you buy in hopes of maintaining value. I bet 90% are leased.

I understand if you lease them but I always wondered about that too.
These car resale value drop like bricks after 3-5 years.

They tank because the target market is largely leases and people who won't keep the car for longer than 3-4 years. A guy who can afford an S-class or 7 series today is gonna get a new one again in a few years. The cars are complicated and costly to upkeep, so the used market beats the **** out of their values so that plebes like me can afford them if we can put up with the ownership headaches. The more expensive the car initially, the bigger dump its value takes after the typical lease period.

It just so happens that Germans are the ones who build cars which appeal to the rich buyer. Hondas and Toyotas don't tank in value because they don't build high end cars to compete with the Germans. What's Hondas top end? The RLX? That's barely a 5 series. I'm fairly sure it will see a similar drop in value that you'd expect from a 535i after 4 years.

Leasing is a scam. Brilliant tactic by automakers.

Cars that depreciate faster command higher lease rates.... and the automakers are laughing all the way to the bank.

It depends on the individual. A rich dude can jump into a new S-class for $2k/mo with 0 down. For him to buy that car at a similar monthly payment he'd need to put down $50k.

He's rich, so chances are quite good that he can make a lot more money with that $50k elsewhere if he doesn't blow it on a new Benz, and he still gets to drive the S.

Leasing isn't a scam.. it just so happens that most people aren't actually taking advantage of what's on offer.

nobody is ever an *** to me in this car.. I think mostly they feel bad for me driving a 40 year old nissan

Forty years ago, shouldn't it have been called Datsun?

I sat in a Nissan convertible once. I could rest my chin on the top of the windshield.

Its clean inside too, but I don't have any shots. The seats and some of the carpeting are out right now, I'm installing some Sparcos. The old ones were tired and not very supportive. Otherwise its mostly stock inside save for the steering wheel and head-unit.

lol no it's had some updates where it counts.. coilovers, big brakes, LSD, and a V8

I know that last one doesn't sit well with some purists, but honestly it suits the car real well. Truth be told, I'd happily drive it with a bone stock inline-6, but who ever said no to more power...

I was going to be modest in this thread, but couldn't hold it anymore, here's my ride....
