Great rate at TD MM

Same...

He quoted me bike alone. He told me there's a standalone fee.... so my quote would be higher by default but, i'd get rid of the standalone fee if i brought something else over. That being said, their rate was very competitive. But i guess allstate agents are pushed to sell combined products. Which is why some of them have those tactics.

Interesting how All State agents handle insurance differently. Maybe I'll give a call to my old State Farm agent too.

TD MM JUST UPPED MY RATE BY 35%!!!!!!!! THEIR Rates have risen 95% since joining them 5 years ago,

My TD MM rate went up by 45% ! No change in bike, no convictions. I was told that the increase was due to an increase in personal injury claims in my area by riders with similar bikes. Although, when I go on TD MM online quote, it's roughly what I paid last year. I called back, got the run around. Asked outright if they'd like to keep me as a customer - I'll be doing my yearly insurance provider switch. Back to State Farm for me.

What did they say when you asked them if they'd still like you as a customer?

They probably replied with a laugh track from Big Bang Theory.

I'm sure the reps have some snappy comebacks based on their current renewals

I got told it was the accident benefits section of my policy that went up that took up about 95% of the rate increase due to the increased number of accidents....

So after a rude Allstate agent in Markham location ( their general number transferred me there) I emailed their head office, and yes they do motorcycle insurance only in Ontario with stand alone fee.
I called up Allstate closest to me, told him what head office told me, he told me it would be cheaper to bundle up. Basically guy was trying to sell me insurance, even though it turns out the rate was exactly the same as just motorcycle insurance alone! Do they pick aggressive salesman at Allstate or they naturally gravitate to work there? In any case, I got quoted what I was paying last year with TD. Want to call few others before switching but this is brutally annoying.

I guess some agents don't care about moto insurance so don't try to sell it at all ...which is a problem.

Some of them are GREAT with it like Grant Redfern... he's all over that and getting you a quote...but a lot of them are not from what ive read over the years... i guess lower commish?

I don't think anyone is happy with moto insurance. All of us feel we are getting ripped off which makes dealing with the segment pretty unfriendly. I'm forced to move my policies because year 2 and 3 increases so I never become an established customer. Aside from the telcos I can't think of an industry that is hated more than insurance

Hey Nyx, I am an Allstate agent and been on this forum for a while, since I got my M2. Sorry for the experience you had with that agent. You do not have to bring over your car if you do not want to. I don't know what type of bike you have, but I know there is a standalone fee for the bike only. Usually I quote guys with their cars so that I can see what discounts I can offer so it that may be worthwhile to save them money, if not then I usually send them to another broker I work with to see if they can save my client money. If you would like any advice let me know, I would be happy to explain anything regarding your insurance (Regardless if you're with Allstate or have no intention of doing so).

Hey spankayf, Why are your rates going up if you are being loyal? Do they explain why? I know in my experience that they go up if the risk assessment changes, but mostly they go down... Is it only with your bike? Or Auto as well?

He went back on his words, and said FZ6R cannot be insured without home/ auto insurance. Furthermore, he asked for future referrals.

Uhmmm... That's not true at all. He is somewhat right in saying that if you brought a home, that we would be able to waive the stand alone fee, but I don't think we have any blacklisted bikes, none that I have ever come across at least. Not really sure why he told you that, and me for one would think the same as you, like getting good customer service and try my best to give it...

I believe that Aviva gave a healthy discount for new business. I've even switched brokers but stayed with Aviva and got better rates!! I've done this for too long and have heard all the corporate scripting to actually enquire about an increase. I get on the phone and shop. Currently I'm with The Personal in year 2 and no increase. Fingers crossed but I'll move again if I see a significant increase

Just an FYI. I was with TD and the rates went up ~70%. 50 Y.O., never had a claim and the last ticket I got was in 2002.

I went to Allstate (Thanks Mina) and they were even able to beat by last years TD premium for a little better coverage.

Basically TD didn't want my motorcycle insurance, so I assume that they won't want my Car, House or Life either, although I'm sure they won't loose any sleep over it.

Funny how they don't get that ... Individually no but you can bet that this scenario is being played across the market
