My 1976 RD400
My 1976 RD400
Yeah, I'm pretty sure that my RZ will never see a track.
If I look at puting an RZ on the track, I'll still have to do some major mods. They were built with 18" rims. All the decent rubber is made for 17" rims. An RZ track bike would still require some decent cash outlay.
Something to think about. First I have to get my 2T finished.

Good to know about Continental as the TU250X uses that size.
Jeff, why don't you consider one? Air cooled and spoked wheels.
Continental has just come out with awesome radial race rubber in narrow vintage 18" sizes.
Awesome...One of the few two strokes reliable enough for everyday street riding.
Love that thing.
I'd love to resto-mod (modern wheels, tires, brakes suspension) an FZR400 or an early 80's Katana....an 85 pop up headlight model would be my absolute fave!
Ya the 76 RD400 is my daily driver.... Bought 2 more red ones last year....
Project make GF happy and one day cafe racer....
Prob something more like these.....
I like the red stripe look better.
You like the Yamaha speed block better! Classic Yamaha. I was trying to find a way to work them into my final paint scheme - part of a 2 tone paint job.
I prefer the GP style cans on the end of the pipes. Gives it a bit of a TZ race look.
Regardless, it's all good.

I read a couple post claiming ground clearance issues with the GP style expansion pipes.
I bought a set of Wicked pipes, looks awesome on the bike and perform well but I've scratched them up a couple times around tight corners...
And I had to modify the side kickstand (didn't want a huge dent in brand new pipes)
I might end up restoring one to stock and selling it (change points to electronic ignition)
The 1975 only has 4500KM on her
Ok, I'll post some better pics of my bike here. Forgive me as I'm gonna be a pic whore here temporarily.
