Check out Famous Sam's (Stouffville Rd & Woodbine) on a Sunday morning during riding season for vintage bikes;

I'm curious to know between the two how they feel different when riding.
well thats a good question....the 81 750 believe it of not is a very different bike than the 83 1100, it's lighter and the gearing is much shorter (better suited for blasting around the city) handling is ok for a 30+ year old bike and comfort wise it's pretty good. power to weight ratio is decent...moves real good when you tell it to and stops ok. fuel econo is pretty good. The 1100 on the other hand is a vintage fire breathing dragon after 7 grand, 3rd gear wheelies no problem , handles better than the 750 even though its heavier but thats due to better suspenssion and a box swing arm, torque is there at all rpm especilly after 7000rpm. gearing is taller and makes for a better ride on the hwy and the seat is comfortable and riding position is very good for longer rides. overall a great old bike that turns alot of heads and a joy to ride ( 1st place asian vintage street 2yrs in a row and 2 best bike in show awards) at the toronto international bike show and featured in Cycle Canada jan 2013 edition)...fuel econo is well ok i guess...aprox 35mpg. keep in mind that there is no comparison to todays modern sport/sport turing bikes. they just didn't have the smarts back then but they had HP and torque....up keep is very minimal on both, oil changes and valve adjustments every winter and the usual off season maint is all they require....hope this answers your questions....

Just got the pm this morning. It would be a blast to do a big old school CB ride. Its pretty hard for me to get out on organized rides as I work like a pig, sometimes night and day. Ill have to do my best to make it happen at least once.

Nice!

The FZ was an instrumental step for Yamaha. Many aspects of that bikes design were decades ahead and the same engine configuration is found on motoGP bikes.

Here's a publicity stunt at Monza. FZ vs Ferrari vs. YZR500

I saw a similar video a while back. Same concept. Car, street bike and race bike. The differences: car was a 300ZX, street bike was a saber, race bike was an NS500 ridden by fast Freddie Spencer.

Cool concept. Same time era.

Cant believe that a lot of these old bikes look so similar to my RX 100. Planning to buy a RD 350 very soon. Will post pics when I do

I had an '81 LC as my first ride (back in '85). Was such a cool, nimble, little machine. Gave the big boys of the day a good run.

They're pretty sparce now. You'd be hard pressed to see one around. When you get yours, join http://www.rzrd500.com there is an Elsie (RD350 LC) section. Good people, very helpful. I'm a member there. PM me if you need any help.

I'm in the process of reviving my '87 RZ. I know that it may not be 'vintage' by some standards.
But it will be cool to have another old stoker back on the road next summer.

Just have to rebuild the motor and it should be done.

Sorry about the slight hijack.

Some great bikes all. I love the older bikes! Ive got a 1978 Honda CB550 that's sorta vintage. I customized it and put 2006 gsxr 600 forks and brakes on it. I tried to upload some pics but it would not work. Kept getting some error. So here is a link to some video of my first test rides after building and running in the motor. Motor has been punched out to 600cc. Check out the video - http://vimeo.com/66125211 - if I figure out how to post some pics I will.

Really nice bike 1978550, looks like you've put a lot of time into it. Some really nice upgrades. I love the idea of new components, but still retaining the vintage look. Turned out really well. Kudos.

Back then bikes were much quickr than street cars, a Ferrari 308 GTB was only 8 seconds 0-60, even the TR was 6.6 seconds.

Thanks Jeff ! Im a fan of yours too. Your RZ is most def. considered vintage in my books. The Vintage Racing League goes to 1989 and in some cases newer if the model didn't change much. Theres plenty of articles lately discussing this topic of bikes like yours and newer being considered 'vintage'.

You can find them restored on Kijiji, but at a premium. The RZ500s were mad bikes.
There has been a resurgence of interest in the RDs/RZs. These bikes were so light and nice to throw around.

Anything older than 20 years is vintage. I had no interest in 70s bikes, but late 80s bikes are actually reliable once restored.

Yeah the RZ500 rocked. My first sighting of that machine was when it flew by me (I was in a car) doing a wheelie with a passenger on the back. I had the chance to get one, but I was too chickensh*t at the time. I stuck with the little brother. Was enough bike for me at that point.

There is a big resurgence. It's cause all us guys that had them waaaay back when are now 40-50 years old and want to re-live our youth. I was just smart enough to know what the future was going to be like - I just kept it all this time. ;)
