Got vintage?

Hey Konix, where is a pic of your bike?

Hey Rick!

followed your thread on the SOHC forum, your bike looks great! here's a pic of my SR500, picked up a cb450k7 recently as well.

Fawaz,

that bike looks so rad! can't wait to see it finished :p

Nice job on the SR500. Do you have a build thread online? Have you had the CB450 for a while now? I was thinking of buying a stock vintage bike.

Picked up the CB a couple months back, it's a good bike, vibrates a lot less than the SR which makes it nicer for longer rides. Plus it's electric start which is a nice change from the kickstart only SR.

Is your CB a daily rider? I remember you had a sweet RC-51 a couple seasons back.

I have been working on the CB550 for almost two years now. Over that time I have made a lot of changes and I did not get my jetting sorted out until this summer. I sold the RC51 a couple of years ago and replaced it with an Aprilia 2010 RSV4 Factory and just sold a 2012 Aprilia Tuono. Both Aprilia's were great bikes but now I just have my CB550. It is not as fast as the modern day bikes but I have the suspension and motor working really well and it just puts a big smile on my face.

I found your build thread. It looks like you put a lot of thought and work into your build like I did with mine. Nice job. My build was to keep the vintage look but the modern day reliability. I do not ride as much as I use to but mine is now a daily rider.

Thanks Rick!

The tank might be misleading, but since I work close to home I use the SR as a daily rider as well. It's a blast, but i've been considering selling it for something more modern, all my friends ride sport bikes and it's always a struggle to keep up with them during our rides. Either that or open up the motor and see what my options are.

The problem with selling the SR is you probably will not get close to what you put in to it. You would be better off selling the CB450 and replacing it. If you modify the motor you will get a few more horses but it still will not compare to a modern bike. Mine is not stock.

I know what you mean about riding with modern bikes but it depends on the type of riding you do with your friends. I still have to hit some good twisties on my CB550. Down the road I will probably get a another RC51 or a sport tour.

We should meet up at some point and ride some twisties.

Bought my first bike a couple weeks ago, a tired old 1985 FJ600 that's been Frankensteined a bit. Still runs nice and makes quite a nice sound in the upper revs. :cool:

I'll be wasting the better part of a paycheck bringing it back to its original all-black look. Already ordered a new windshield, aftermarket lower fairing/cowl/chin scoop, aftermarket seat cover, replica graphics, NOS black fuel tank, grips, footpegs, etc. Only part I'm missing is a black right side panel - worst-case scenario I'll buy some Montana spray paint cans and replace the FJ600 graphic with the correct one. Should look like this when I'm done:

Love the geeky-chic cyclops front end. The hipster sportbike. :D

Great bike, I really enjoyed my FJ600 and sold it to Firestart on this board 5 years ago. I had also done everything to it including carbs, tires, brakes, including braded lines, chain and sprockets etc. but never found a lower scoop fot it.

Mine only had 13 000 K when I got it and sold it a few years later with 24 000 on the clock. It was the original 600!

80s-90s Japanese bikes are heavily supported and restored in England. They have little value in Ontario.

There are a few places that sell OEM graphics decals or even better quality. Those guys are fanatic, they even have notes on which decals go above and below the clear coat on every model.

I see a future goldmine in buying up original exhausts and storing them in a warehouse.

I'm looking hard at getting an '85-87 FZ750...

While relatively newer, this is my 99 Guzzi, very retro in both looks and engineering

Get him to re-route the clutch cable. It looks like it may touch the headers.

Will probably bring the new tank to Rosey Toes to be cleaned and swapped - the other minor stuff I will deal with myself. Can't wait to see her all dressed up.

I bought a brand new V65 Magna in 1985. Sold it in 1990 and had nothing but sport bikes till 2011. I decided that I had to find another V65 Magna (it was always my favorite bike) I spent about 2 months trying to find a really nice one and found this one in Wisconsin. Had it shipped to my driveway and it's still my daily ride.

Some very nice rides so far.
May have seen some on Sunday at Famous Sam's.

I've been collecting kz650 bits since buying my first in the '80s.
Have had this '78 since High School, having seen many changes over the years, and over 100,000 kms;

1985:

2012:

Also had another '78 given to me, which needs lots of bits, just 6 #s off;

Bought this '77 kz650 not long ago as well;
