Got 2k in my pocket.. what now? Or should I wait..

Did you give him a non-refundable deposit? Otherwise kind of a crappy thing to do, ask the seller to take down the ad while you continue shopping...

Thumbs up for this comment. Damned Kijiji. First person with money at my door takes it. Nothing gets held for anyone because of crap like this.

I almost lost a buyer because of this same crap. Was holding the bike for an out of town buyer, when another interested party was ready to pick it up the same day. Waited 2 days, didn't work out. Luckily 2nd buyer was still interested. Lesson learned: never hold the bike for anyone, unless of course they put a deposit. Sell it the first chance you get.

100% this. 20% deposit via EMT/Interac or its first come-first serve.

I didn't ask him to take down the ad. He said once I get a deposit he will take it down. If I put a deposit down I will be getting it. Whether refundable or not. The only reason I need the time is to get transportation in order. I have access to things but on limited days so I need to do this properly. The only thing I am waiting for is the VIN so I can buy the Used Vehicle Information Package myself for $20 and get some piece of mind knowing the full ownership history. Once I get that and it checks out I am putting a deposit down and in two weeks I am going to pick it up.

... The only thing I am waiting for is the VIN ...
How long could that possibly take  it's stamped on the bikes frame and it's printed on the ownership paper. If the seller doesn't have that information he has neither the bike or the ownership in his possession, there has to be a good story behind that one.

He is working with someone to sell it. Currently the bike is stored with that person and they have the documents in their possession to because the sale will be done where the bike is. I've spoken to this guy over the phone and he's not the easiest to deal with it seems (Seems like one of those dudes that gets annoyed when you ask him how he is doing...lol). So I've asked the original seller to get it for me, which he has no problem doing so and I am just waiting on that.

Sounds too convoluted.

Sounds too convoluted.

LOL It's whatever... Whats so convoluted about it?

He just has the papers with the bike and the bike is being stored somewhere other than his home. It's being stored at a mechanics shop, same on who did the tire, chain, service and cert work.

The mechanic is doing the sale for him?

Something like that. When I go see the bike I will be seeing it at the shop there. I will meet with the original seller there too, but he(the mechanic) is helping the guy out.

Edit: I'm sure not for free, unless they are good buddies. Doesn't matter to me really as long as everything is clean on it.

The VIN is the most important piece of information in the purchase of a motorcycle, you can't even get a firm quote for insurance without it.
I'd wait about 1 day and then call scam on that deal, how long has it been so far?

I asked him after I spoke to the mechanic to get the number. The mechanic gave me a number but I think I got it wrong and I am hesitant to call again to ask him to clarify the number. Like I said he's one of those guys that doesn't like to be asked stuff apparently. What fun..

So I asked the seller over the weekend to get it for me. I figure its the weekend so I can wait, but if I don't get anything solid by tomorrow or Wednesday then I will probably back away.

OP has a different definition of "now" apparently... he's had 2k in his pocket (queue Alanis Morissette song) for quite awhile now...

and...?

Edit: It's technically not in my pocket more the bank.. but I do smoke so I do flick cigarettes from time to time.. def give high fives to people I know...

Monks :D I got drugs in my pocket and I don't know what to do with them ...

Just got back from a nice ride to town to pickup new front brake shoes, holy crap! $255.36 for 4 tiny little brake shoes. MSFT you better quit smoking you're going to need all the coin you can save to pay for parts.
