Google play scam

A few years back, Rogers added new stations to people's cable account, and if they didn't want it, they had to call and cancel, the government was quick to make that illegal.

You can setup a password or pin in Google Play that needs to be entered before purchasing from the store or in game.

Apple got their hand slapped for a similar tactic where kids were able to purchase in-app items shortly after their parents used the password for something else. The password would keep the option open and all a kid had to do was press 'buy' and that was all it took. My little cousin (7) kept buying things on the Smurfs/Farmville games until his parents caught on what was causing it. They'd buy a song, leave the phone, he'd grab the phone and start buying.

They had to refund a huge amount of money for this, and then ended up shortening the amount of time that the password kept the purchase option open. Used to be like 10-15min and now I believe it's 2-5minutes or something similar. I figured this was standard practice in the industry and Android would also need to do this, but I guess not.

i got 4 phones with bell, i pay 30 bucks per phone per mth. unlimited talk and text nation wide.

i don't need data when almost everyplace now has wi-fi.

just a thought

Regardless of whether you are using WIFI or data (3G/4G). You can still be billed for games/purchases.

maybe, i really don't know. im not that up to date. the only thing i check is the weather on my phone...lol

My point is as the owner of the account,I should have the say if I want that on my account, if I agree to have it, and they rack you 500 or 1000 then in responsible, but they aren't giving the right to have it removed. They can't call Rogers and have features added without my authorization, this should be the same

16, but all the charges were from a so called free game. Free means free, just as no means no.

ok, Ive read over this thing, and now im finding out your kid is 16.

So the 16 yr old kid, downloaded games, and now you are footing the bill , and are ****** about it.. Simple solution, punish the kid, make him pay the bill. Saying your Son isnt to blame is Stupid, because clearly he is, What if he downloads Music to his phone ? is that the Cell companies fault ? what if he downloads anything, is that their fault ? Simple Solution dude, take off the data plan on his phone. What if he orders Porn on your TV, or orders a PPV event at home.. You going to ***** and moan to the cable company that you didnt authorize it ?

its cut and dry on this one. you gave a phone to your Kid. Your Kid did something wrong, You deal with the kid, not with the 3rd party that only did what the Kid asked them to do
maybe if you spent some time being an actual parent, instead of arguing with anyone and everyone on GTAM, this kind of problem might not have happened.
maybe spend some time with your Kid, before they get sick of not having a parent and decide they dont need one anymore and leave
