Ghomeshigate

I'm sure there is a lot of truth in there from some of the women, but it also sounds like some are jumping on the "burn him band wagon". So the guy probably though they were cool with him, like the one who had the job interview but now she hears all these other stories and decides years later hey you know what if those women say that maybe I should feel that way too.

It's all tainted.

At least someone else is able to see through this media fog.

If she didn't try to stop it verbally or physically, how is the creep supposed to know she no longer gave her ongoing consent?

Same goes for the girl who gave him head and accepted an interview afterwards.

I'm not saying none of these women have a legit cause for complaint, but certainly some of the stories so far are dubious.

Indeed.

a man who is a known creep (rumours have been going for years in entertainment industry) is telling the truth.

so true

The truth is usually somewhere in the middle.

Since none of us were there we're forced to view the situation thru our personal prism. I would like to hear from anyone in professional contact with JG. What kind of workplace culture did he create? Did he have power issues? etc. For the CBC to cast him aside so quickly I bet the JG problem was not a new problem. No doubt lawyers were consulted.

To be fair, it's hard for most men to 'get it' because we're not often in situations where someone can dominate us physically or emotionally. I understand a woman might find herself in a situation with a man where she won't say no in fear of what might happen afterwards... it may be simpler to go along with it, out of fear or discomfort or whatever.

My only problem with this is when the woman comes back for a 2nd or 3rd date, or takes a job interview following the alleged assault. That is just insane.

Did he have "power" issues?

It seems he likes to beat on women... I'd say that by his own volition he has "power" issues.

Someone has to ask Jian why he hates his mother so.

Rape and BDSM have little to do with sex, and everything to do with power.

Right now we're going on the say so of the "victims". It would help to hear from other people for context. This isn't a criminal trial, so what kind of self important "I can do anything I want" issues did he display?

i know you probably didn't mean to but lets not conflate Rape and BDSM.

Rape is often about asserting power. BDSM is an exploration of power in a consensual sexual context.

Well it sounds like he was a prick and perv... sexual harassment in the workplace is total bs, and it shouldn't be hard to confirm the allegations because at least this one woman reported it to higher-ups. For that reason alone he should've been fired, and his lawsuit will go nowhere. Hopefully the lawyers take the rest of his money.

I wonder if he's had the Qaddafy moment yet where he knows it's past the point of no return?

Correction: not during sex, he just likes beating them up in general with no warning, as well as rape them.

He'd make the excuse that it was sexy foreplay but it's just sexual assault.

Pretty strong accusation there Fastar1. What you have just written constitutes as Libel. Name your source. Please don't tell us it's the Toronto Star.

I'll never fully comprehend this #BeenRapedNeverReported thing, I just don't get it. Half these reports (in 140 characters or less, mind you) are of young women claiming rape or sexual assault by their own partners, and many involving consumption of alcohol or even drugs. Several even go on to say that it took them years to realize it was 'rape' or that they haven't even accepted it yet.

Ok, something of possibly questionable moral standards transpired, maybe there was alcohol involved, maybe you were young and naive, maybe he had really good game and you only realized you were played after you sobered up.... was it rape? And if it is indeed labeled as rape (by inane social media standards) then its doing a disservice to victims of real, anonymous, violent rape.

Random thoughts..

Jian/"Q" is Big dog in the Canadian Industry. It's very easy to see why they wouldn't come forward as it's committing career suicide with no alternatives. Unfortunately, this kind of behaviour is very rampant in many industries and stays unreported...

his lawsuit will go nowhere regardless.... He can't sue as he's a member of a union.

Should the CBC take him back?

Should they have asked him to leave?

I believe that much of THEIR concern wouldn't be about his love life with "consenting" adults or however he put it, but would be much more HR focused.
