Ghomeshigate

lets cut this down to basics... maybe i dont get it cause im a guy or something..

BUT.. as a man. If im in bed with a woman and all of a sudden she starts doing something im not comfortable with, I'll ask her to stop. If she doesnt stop, im leaving.

If she stops me from leaving, im going to the police afterwards with all the fresh marks from the beating I took while trying to stop the violation.

were these women covered in bruises ? or did they go along with it ?

cases like these are VERY scary for men.

I personally have had numerous one-nighters back in the day, after a night in the pubs... Who hasnt ???

will one of these ladies come forward 15-20 years later and say they were raped ?

YEARS !!!!! and theres no evidence left over from then, its he said/she said.

i truly feel sorry for actual rape victims. its a horrible thing.

but i dont think all these ladies were raped. i think they had regrettable sex. big difference.

As a man you're not often put in such a situation because we tend to be the dominant and physically stronger sex. I can think of scenarios where a woman isn't comfortable with what's taking place, but is making the decision to continue on out of fear of what might happen if she puts up a fight or says no. As a man, this is totally irrational for me and I'd fight against an attack with whatever means necessary..... but many women apparently don't see it that way. I suppose its because many times these situations aren't out of the blue, its a slow escalation of force, pushing boundaries, etc. If she already had a date with the guy, and came up to his place, and at some point considered having sex with him anyway, but it escalated out of the comfort zone, its hard to justify it as assault in the moment.. and it very well may not be assault. But if she never said stop or revoked consent physically or verbally, whats the expectation then?

And why do you think that given all of them have declared it wasn't. For many they didn't even have sex he assaulted them. 1 vrs 9 and you believe the 1 with a rep for being a sleezy guy? c'mon your better than that.

You are right... you don't get it.

Your thinking from a dominant position as a man. Most men have never feared being assaulted and dominated by a women in an abusive way.

Wait, are you the one with a vagina?

So your not only ignorant but your also sexist. Nicely done. Want to throw in some racist jokes to be the ultimate low life *******?

I'm starting to understand where your hate for women and womens issues comes from.

What about the accounts where the woman returned for a 2nd or 3rd date? Or the one about the girl taking a job interview after the fact?

I haven't read all 9, but those two in particular are head-scratchers. If you were assaulted, do you go back for 2 more dates? If you were assaulted, do you offer up a blowjob after the fact and then take a job interview as a result?

Can you site which girls. I remember the job interview but not the returning for more dates after the abuse. Its all starting to mangle together into an episode of L&O SVU.

The blow job I see very much as someone trying to appease their abuse to escape any more abuse and get out of there asap. Either way there is too much to sluff off gomeshi as just a guy who likes consentual BDSM (yet for some reason he doesn't know the basics of BDSM code of conduct)

...

Nah, why is it scary?
Are you suggesting he is innocent?
Do you think the 9 women are liers?

I' ll tell you what would be scary to me, as a man... that I didn't do anything wrong, and they accused me of a complete fabrication and I go to jail.

This guy is not even charged with anything. All what happened so far is that he lost his job.

The actress one.. http://www.cbc.ca/news/arts/jian-gh...actress-lucy-decoutere-on-2003-date-1.2817806

On one occasion in 2003, she visited him in Toronto and the pair went to dinner and later to Ghomeshi's house. They started kissing consensually, but, she said, Ghomeshi soon became violent.

"He did take me by the throat and press me against the wall and choke me," DeCoutere said. "And he did slap me across the face a couple of times."

She doesn't recall telling him to stop but said her facial expression turned very serious and Ghomeshi was no longer violent after that. She left within an hour and saw Ghomeshi two more times that weekend, but they did not discuss the incident, and no further violent incidents occurred.

She obviously liked him enough to go out with him and go back to his place and start making out, right? So far so good. He then escalates it, takes her by the throat and slaps her.. she doesn't recalling saying no or stop, but her expression becomes serious, he realizes it and stops. She hangs out for another hour and then leaves. She then sees him twice more that weekend.

So..... what's the real story here?? I guess she went on record just to confirm that this guy has these violent fetishes, but he admitted it himself already so its no secret.

I still dont get it....

in all honesty, im expecting to see a woman thats been beaten up, filing rape charges as soon as its humanly possible.

If im with a woman, and were in the middle of having sex, and i turn her over and go for the other spot, and she says no, ok, i got it. you dont like that.

Lets say i dont listen, punch her in the eye and do it anyways, im expecting to be arrested ASAP

What im NOT expecting, is for her to go along with it, ( not saying to stop ) then calling the cops 10 years later.

the answer your gonna get is......

she's a woman, she is scared, she is this that and the other, and it takes 10 years for her to build up the courage to come out and report it...

BS

in today's society, I would have to think most women are much more in tune and would run to the nearest police station and have it reported

are you gonna tell me all these women are in the stone age......still,,,,,really

Missed that part first read through. Yes that is odd although with the amount of abused wives and girlfriends that go back to their husbands because "he will change" or " he said it wouldn't happen ever again" etc. The actress date also sounds like it was in the early years and his abuse progressed in severity as he got emboldened.

I still don't believe for a second JG is innocent. I personally believe he was abused as a child himself. The Big Ears Teddy stuff of turning the bear around "Teddy can't see this" before he abuses people just screams of abuse at the hands of a family member be it his dad (who recently died) or someone else.

I don't think he's innocent either, but I also don't think several of these allegations are a criminal matter.

The reasons women don't go to the police have been stated over and over in this thread. There are lots of articles out there on this topic. The fact is most incidents of rape or physical abuse don't go reported while only 3-5% of rape complaints are false. Your going to side with the 3-5% here?

Its shameful and embarrasing for women to come forward. Especially against a beloved media star in Canada. The fact that 9 women have come forward and you still believe JG's words should demonstrate why more women don't go to the police.

Do you also believe Graham James didn't molest Theo Fleury? He should have went to the police why years later? Same for all abuse victims of priests or Jimmy Saville at the BBC? Victims were so scared of his fame and stature they didn't come forward till he died and yes the victims were telling the truth.

Keep in mind that "sees" could actually mean was in the same place at the same time, rather than "went on other dates."

I can see that point. Regardless he should be publicly shamed and the firing is justified. I am not a judge or lawyer so I'll leave criminal stuff up to them. In the court of public opinion based on the facts presented he is done.

I find it very hard to talk when someone is choking me.

Just sayin'
