Fishing is animal torture

umm let's see
- when animals kill they do it to eat or protect...

We learned to use tools for this, doesn't make it less viable. And the unconditional love/loyalty thing is crap. I'll assume you are referring to dogs, pack animals. Pure instinct, not love.

How do you know this? I'm talking about every animal I have ever owned

Anyways, this was just my opinion. I'm in no mood to get into a gtam argument

No worries about an argument, just adding my opinion to the discussion.

I only torture fish since the seal clubbing is so lousy in the GTA

If you have a more efficient way to catch fish to eat, I'm all ears

umm let's see
- when animals kill they do it to eat or protect, humans kill for fun or a pair of sneakers
- Animals are loyal - Humans are not, its all about themselves
- Animals will give you unconditional love and affection - humans will as long as there is something on it for them
.... Etc etc etc

Animals don't put a hook on our mouth just for sport and then send us back on the road, they would only attack us like I said to eat or protect

You have obviously never seen a dog destroy a kitten like it was a piece of paper.

I said fishing, not killing fish.

I didn't realize that we put a hook through a pigs mouth and drag it through the bush while it kicks and screams.

Most people don't cast a line to catch a pig, so yes you are correct. But most fisherman don't put a bullet in the fish's forehead either .... Or you don't consider that a torture??? Somehow that is more OK??? Amazing thinking.

Are you deluded about pig, cow and chicken farming? You want to talk torture, start watching farming and slaughterhouse vids. Fishing is the least of the evils by comparison.

And let me just clarify something here: I love fish. I have three aquariums. I was vegetarian for years too. But "torture"? No, fishing is not "torture."

Those kittens can be quite threatening. The dog was obviously protecting its master, I mean owner.

Trolling is cruel as well, taking us back to the OP. :)
I'm being serious.

If digging a hook into their flesh is cruel, would catching them in a net be considered less cruel?

Once out of the water they die the same way (most likely either a rock to the head or thumb stuck into the gils to snap it's neck.) In some rare cases you have to grab it by the tail and bash it down hard against the rock a few times.

Went trout fishing with one of my regular angler buddies a while back along the Nottawasaga river. He hooked a thick trout, pulled it up, and threw it right on the propane hot plate we had on the boat. Freaking delicious.

Get over yourselves, there's a food chain for a reason.

Fun fact: All cat species kill for fun.
PETS are loyal...and even then just dogs, really.
Again, PETS will give you love.

Animals are not pets. Animals eat, those that eat meat kill for it. We happen to be at the top of the food chain. Cycle of life and all that.

Yes netting would be more humane, of course. There's nothing wrong with killing an animal before we consume it's delicious meat, I'm saying that what we do to catch fish is animal torture. I'm generally referring to catch and release, because while yes its torture to reel them in at least if you're consuming it, you should put it out of its misery quickly.

I am under no impression the factory farming isn't torture, but the general population sure as hell is.

Pig Fishing?? brilliant!!!
I'm selling this idea to an episode of Duck Dynesty or Honey BooBoo.

Get a bigger rod uncle dofus, weeeee ewweeeeee weeee, reel em in to the back of the pickup, we can dynamite the rest.

Then Honey BooBoo's family eat the catch. All of it, in one sitting. Momma scratches and farts.... roll the credits. Creative developement by Crankcall...... famous.

Netting is NOT more humane. The nets tear a fishes gills to shreds, their most sensitive part of their bodies. Fishes' mouths are boney and tough, not fleshy and soft.

Pigs stomp on their newborn if they get in the way or kick them to death.

No animal goes out of its way to save another animal of the same species, let alone another species.

The way animals are killed in factory farms isn't bad..it's extremely quick and efficient (duh its a factory). It's the way they are treated up to that point that is "inhumane."

I'm all for those who do bowhunting and eat what they kill, THAT takes skill and gives animals plenty of chance to escape. It's also more personal and you're not kidding yourself saying it's all OK to eat animals but then not want to kill for your own food.

I agree with this. I don't go fishing anyway (not my "sport") but my brother does.... he won't ever do throw-back fishing. He'll go to a lake with a good reputation/clean waters, fish and eat.

PS: Fish can be pets too.... just because something can't hug you back doesn't mean they aren't a pet. You feed them, they kill each other (or eat their own new borns lol) etc...

Definition of pet: A domestic or tamed animal kept for companionship or pleasure and treated with care and affection.

Keywoard is 'treated' with affection, not giving affection to the owner.
