F1 Thread!!!

I hope he crashes in practice and permanently mangles that smug grin he's got..

No doubt in my mind he will be on pace at the first race.

Rosberg will surprise a few this year now that he finally has a competitive car. Same thing happened to his Dad back in 1982, fast guy but never had the car until he landed a seat at Williams.

Hamilton should be quicker than Button, after all it's his team.

I may even splurge this year and buy tickets to Montreal.

FYI tickets are on sale =)

Got my tickets for Grandstand 33!

Oh, while on the F1 site I noticed that they don't allow refuelling anymore so karts are packing on twice as much fuel now.

One week to go!!

Schumacher
Vettel
Hamilton
Massa
Alonso
Button

......................................

Schumacher has been quoted as saying he feels like a kid before Christmas. I have a feeling MB has been playing possum with their new and improved double diffuser, and he's gonna put a world of hurt on the field right out of the gate.

I'm gonna say Brawn has a tough start..I think McLaren will do well..I'm thinking Hamilton will out-drive Button. And I think Vettel and the Red Bull will do well. The Ferrari will get better with Alonso..maybe he'll come on strong later in the year.

And as I said before, I hope Schumacher crashes and mangles that smug grin off his face permanently..

I been wanting to ask this question for a while, what is that red light on the back of some of the cars? I just saw a highlight of Hamilton's rig and it looks like a brake light but I cant see that being right?

It's a rain light, used to help following drivers spot the car ahead in wet conditions because the cars kick up so much water.

Also used to identify when a driver hits the pit speed limiter button by flashing during that time. Not sure what the point of that is.

Uhm...

Kind of a noob when it comes to F1 but its always fascinated me. Ive read bits and peices on the net and sometimes catch it on tv but i dont really get how the cars work and how their able to stay at such high speeds.

Anywhere sites that would be helpful in popping my F1 cherry? or perhaps Youtube vids?

Three little clips.

He he. Ferrari 1/2. Michael 6th. As a Ferrari Dan first and a schumacher Dan second I am one tickled F1 fan with these results. Happy Sunday to meme!

They only won based on Vettels misfortune. ;)

Vettel is a great driver, to be sure. I think one of the best out there.

But you have to wonder if he had taken it a bit easier would the car not have broken? If that were the case would he have been in #1 as long as he was? Perhaps the broken exhaust was a direct result of him pushing the car so hard.. after all Webber was quite a ways behind, obviously didn't push the car as hard and his car didn't break.

I think Schumi will come around in time. He has had very little in the way of practice in a race car since he left F1. His strengths are being an incredible driver, developing the team and developing the car. He really hasn't had much chance to do that so his strengths should become more apparent as the season moves on and he gets used to the new strengths of the current cars.

Alonzo is a great driver and a great developer of the car so the Ferrari will continue to improve.

Massa is a very good driver and a good wingman. I think he has the ability to win a championship if he were the number one guy but as long as he is in the team with Alonzo he'll be second. I actually hope I'm wrong as I like him a lot.

Hamilton is a great driver (I think the best right now for raw talent) and has matured nicely over the years. I think he learned a lot when Alonzo was with McLaren. McLaren obviously has more development to do on the car and has the resources to develop the car.

I wish that Kobayashi had a good car.. I think he will be the star of the future.

I hate to say but I didn't find the race all that exciting. I hope the cars soon get closer in abilities so that the driver's strengths can win the races.

We won't see the old MS until race three, same thing happened to Lauda back in 1982 after coming out of retirement.

Bahrain is traditionally a Ferrari track, who knows whether or not Alonso would have been able to beat Vettel fair and square. It was interesting to see Alonso put down a lap two seconds faster than anyone else at the end of the race.

Gonna be such a great season, one team may have an advantage one race but not the next.

The cars are uguly this year Ferrari looks like an IRL car

I guess having to carry all the extra fuel makes for an ugly car. The tail fin just looks horrendouus.

I like the new Lotus, still not as beautiful as the old JPS cars.

Apparently it was a faulty spark plug on Vettel's car..so not really his fault I suppose. Just one of those things..probably used Motomaster plugs..haha! :)

Agree with everything else. Interesting that Ferrari replaced both engines before the race..of the 8 (??) they're allowed for the whole season..makes ya wonder..

Surprised the Ferrari's were so fast..Alonso seems to be on the way..where Vettel might be a little soft, Alonso is definitely not. Schumi? Dunno how he'll turn out..Seemed to be on the pace pretty well..kinda knew he wouldn't be slow. Still hope he gets his smug face banged up a bit..

Didja see Kovy getting out of the Lotus at the end? He looked rather second-hand. :) I suspect his seat is not fitted that well or it was bottoming a fair bit? Great show though for Lotus..both cars finished..and they weren't THAT far off the pace at the end. Gascoyne isn't all talk after all? :)

Schumi in 6th after three yrs on the shelf, he owes no apologies for that. There wasn't much excitement in the race and I hope it doesnt turn into a ferrari parade. Seen enough of that in the past.
Good on Lotus to look respectable, I hope the American team gets their show together and makes it to the grid.

The no refuel has taken some strategies away IMHO, I understand why they did it, but it removes some tactics.

I had the volume cranked for the start, 2000watts, the neighbors must have thought i had an F1 car in the garage.

imagine if Bruno Senna was in that car (remember him in yellow, carmel sponsored car)?......that guy looks exactly same as aryton in the yellow helmet. brings back memories of great aryton senna.

That's what Brundle said during the telecast..I actually believe he was seriously ghosted by that look.
