F1 Thread!!!

As for hamilton's whining, you would be ****** too if you were called in for no reason.

Ya, but over the radio for all to hear? That's not going to boost team moral.

Ya exactly. And they may have been balancing strategies..suppose Button's tires went off before the end? Then they'd at least have one guy in the running. Alonso must be smiling at least a little to hear Hamilton crying on the radio.. :)

got my confirmation today for Montreal, grandstand 31

wife hasn't seen F1 live yet.....I was there in 2000 for the V10s

so we'll get this off her bucket-list

looking forward to it.....watching/hearing them live is almost beyond comprehension

Maybe, maybe not...

I mean after all, does he really want to be part of the next McLaren soap opera? As soon as they pulled Hamilton in, but did not choose to pit Button, all I could think of was Fernando and Lewis, head to head in a battle for who will still be there next year. Or perhaps David Coulthard and Mika Hakkinen...

Michael Schumacher is a naughty middle aged man.

Yeap, there can never again be any doubt that he is reformed. He's just as despicable a sportsman as he's ever been.

Next year I'll be in Montreal for sure to watch F1 , I don't care to much how is the champion, I just need to hear those engines !

always has been....it just looks more pathetic when he's driving like that in a 10th place car

Thank god people are finally realizing this...I've hated this guy ever since he tried to put his front wheel into Villenuve's ribs in 97. If he didn't have a car that was light years ahead of everybody else's in the 2000's he wouldn't be as highly regarded.

The talent was always there even in a crappy car. He put Piquet into early retirement within four races.

Not a supporter of the guy, but he did change F1's thinking towards fitness and he totally dominated the modern F1 era with fuel and pit stops, sometimes while not having the fastest car.

This year has been a complete let-down, Rosberg is no slow coach but Nico has been consistantly faster and by a far margain.

He absolutely had the fastest car, it was so far ahead of every other car it was a joke. Fuel and pit stop strategy was all done by the Scuderia, not Shumacher.

Perhaps you should read up on Schumacher before he moved to Ferrari.

Benetton he cleaned Senna's clock for the first two races of 94, and he won the championship also in 1995 despite Williams being the fastest car.

He went to Ferrari, trading teams with Alesi and Berger, Scuderia was nothing more than an above average car before his arrival. The results from what Alesi and Berger achieved with Benetton were proof it was more Driver than Car.

Nonsense it was due to Ferrari dropping (on a conservative estimate) half a billion dollars on their cars. Which was the catalyst to the snowballing of F1 costs and the gap between the have and the have nots.

So you still fail to see the two world championships prior to Ferrari.

Yep it was all the car....

Two world championships doesnt equate to being considered one of the greats.

And by your equation of car advantages making a driver a great i guess Senna winning all those championships in a Mclaren is also void.

lol.

At 41 after 3 years off he's not running at the back of the pack. That means he's doing better than a lot of others at the highest level of motor racing. That's kinda neat, huh?

If anybody can come back to that level of racing at that age and lay off it's got to be Michael Schumacher.

I like Schumacher, I find his antics amusing. I absolutely think he's one of the greatest F1 drivers ... the dumb things he keeps trying to pull off rarely work anyway. My favourite race by him was the 2006 Brazilian Grand Prix. He didn't win, but he drove the wheels off his car trying, pulling some epic passes. Not sure if I'm remembering it right, but I think once he and Barrichello were trying to outbrake each other into turn one, both of them massively locked up the brakes, and Michael still pulled off the pass. Also he held fastest lap for the race.

People who don't think Schumi has been an incredible driver, the best ever, really aren't looking at the whole picture or aren't paying attention.

His strengths were not just the best driver, but an incredible developer of the cars, of setting them up, of getting the most out of every team mate. He was constantly thinking even when he was way out of the chance of winning he would be strategizing how best to help his team mate.

Having said that he was so good he almost killed F1 as no one likes to see one person totally dominate.

As far as this last race, I don't know that I would completely blame his antics. risky, yes, but don't think he realy should have ben punished for it. He made one move which is allowed under the rules and it was predictable move. He is not allowed to make two blocking moves and Barricello could have simply gone the other side and Schumi would not have been able to move that way. As it was he didn't run Barricello into the wall and there was no crash, unlike other moves made by some drivers this year.

..Tom
