Still trying to figure out why the nose of the Lotus is staggered.

Good question. Here is what I believe to be the correct answer :

"The regulations state that there can only be 1 “nose” with a single continuous 9000mm2 surface. The longer prong on the Lotus solution acts as such. In order to proceed with front end concept, the 2nd prong is required to be shorter to not be considered also part of the ‘nose’, which would circumvent the single continuous 9000mm2 nose surface requirement. The second, shorter prong, in essence, is considered simply as an element of the nosecone assembly, which is unregulated in its shape. Interesting solution by the Lotus engineers."

Mercedes & Ferrari powered cars look very strong from the testing. It'll be fun to see all the Renault retirements at Melbourne.

Red Bull & Toro Rosso have the best aero packages thanks to Adrian Newey, but they're completely useless w/o reliability and performance.

Lets see what they can do with the rest of Bahrain test.

I really really really hope The Bull's don't run away with it again this year and as long as Louise doesn't win either I'm happy.

Heavier cars (bigger battery packs), with more power (ICE and battery output combined) .... reliability and handling issues ... sounds like a "great" season. Apparently they sound crappy as well due to single pipe restriction??? What are they doing (regulating bodies) killing all motorsports?

At least it'll be different from the usual show of watching sector splits for 2 hours before Vettel wins and tries to sound somewhat excited about it.

Why would it be any different this year? Vettel will still win if his car is superior to others (plus he's a pretyt good driver, so someone else's car would have to be much better to have a chance to compete with him), like last year ... there's no guarantee that this will lead to exciting racing. At least, they sounded cool and were pretty reliable, if everything else failed ...

I think it'll be different because of the new regs. Everyone is venturing into unknown territory with the tech. Sure by the end of the season it'll probably be the same old song, but I think the first half will be fairly unpredictable.

I am figuring at least one car ends up in a fireball.

It sounds to me like the Renault engine is no good, and they are struggling to even run a full race distance on it. Vettel could be in trouble. I hope he is.

If I want a fireball I can watch the left turn racing, plenty of that every weekend .... F1 should be great sound, high RPM, crazy corner speed etc.

Are we taking bets?

Joking aside, someone's KERS/TERS battery is gonna commit sepuka, eventually.

Im pretty sure the Renault engine is "good". Its the body work and design which is causing issue. Its simply too tightly wrapped and the engine is either overheating, or causing the body work to melt and waste away, causing serious aero issues and ultimately affecting reliability.
