Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

MERRY CHRISTMAS to everyone and a big F U to Bosch and all of its aftermarket parts manufacturers.

Bosch Dishwasher decided to take a crap on Christmas Eve. Error code E 15. Water detected in the bottom basin.

Thankfully "OiOiOi Super Duper Appliance Repair Services" was available today and came to the rescue.
Spare part on hand and happen to be in the area (more like on site already) so no additional charge for the emergency service.

Issue resolved in half hour. Running a test cycle now to confirm that the water inlet valve was the issue. If it is, this is the 4th one replaced on this unit.

Needless to say. I will be shopping for a new Dishwasher in the new year. Bosch is at the bottom of my list.

What series ours is nearing 10 years no issues. Except we had a e14 last week after my wife flooded the kitchen couple of days to dry and all good again.

This is the 4th inlet valve I have replaced in 9.5 years of ownership.

I hung a new ceiling fan in the bedroom no one uses , and put a new enclosed base toilet in the bathroom no one uses . I’m on a theme here. Fix the rooms no one uses ….

Usually 1 a day. End of the night.
Twice on big occasions like tonight.

I do like the button catch basin underneath the unit. In case there is a water leak.

It is quiet which is a positive.
But I want my next one to have a heating unit at the bottom and be all stainless steel. (Which this is)
I don't like the idea of heating up the dishes with super hot water to heat them up and then they dry themselves.

Audi of appliances, awesome while under warranty.

I put out a decent kitchen fire.... does that count? Luckily I was right there (some could say I was the cause....) and caught it fast so no major damage.
I bought all my sons fire blankets for xmas. I got funny looks. Isnt part of the idea of gifting to get something that they need but wouldnt get themselves?

EDIT: Actually, the looks came from the girls. The guys all nodded. :)

Fire blanket is on the new year's shopping list. What was somewhat scary is most of the family had no idea what to do.

When the fire hit I covered it up with a large t-towel (poor-man's fire blanket) that slowed it down. I was yelling at my wife to get the baking soda... when I pulled the t-towel off I had two feet+ of immediate flames. I then used that baking soda to put it out. No one in the house knew to use baking soda!

Wife asked me how I knew to do that! Oldest daughter is in chemistry at UofT and you could see her doing the work in her head afterwards and she commented that was an interesting lesson in chemistry. Youngest went for the fire extinguisher so that was a positive...

So a good teaching moment...

Like my house.

All the boys got a Dyson vac from their mom Their girls just looked at each other, mom just smiled.

Home Depot has fire blankets on promo right now . I’ve been in a fire , it’s rather unpleasant.
For folks that go buy one , take it out of the box , take the plastic bag off and have it ready , that thirty seconds you’ll spend unpacking it can be the difference between “ that was close” and holy F , get out of the house .

Washing machine has acted up a little. Occasionally doesn't finish a cycle. Drum had a bit of play. I assumed bearings but if the spider was broken, I was going to call it terminal and get a new one on boxing day. Unfortunately, I couldn't figure out a way to differentiate between bearings with play and a broken spider without tearing the whole thing apart. Luckily it was just bearings but now machine is in a hundred pieces. Ordered new bearings/seals and will put it back together when they arrive in a week.

Edit:
Barf. Pulled the spider and agitator webs to clean behind. So so gross. Lots of cavities designed in to capture sand/soap/mold.

We picked up 5 or so of these while at a home show last year.
Gave one to my parents to have at their RV trailer. Also gave one to a friend whos son is old enough to use the stove by has restricted mobility with his left arm.
I think we paid around $100 or $120 for 5
