Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

If anyone knows how to fix / replace a retaining pin on a framing nailer trigger…I’m all ears.

Managed to find all the pieces but the retaining ring….$2 piece broke down a $300 nailer…FML

You can try putting a thin screw in there
Or a rivet with rivet gun.

Some good stone work by cousins…not bad for them not doing this as a regular job.

The column on the right took 5 hours as it’s so uneven. The low section on the left took 2 hours. Kevin knew how to do concrete…just not how to level it.

Need to install a grab bar in a shower/tub wall. My stud finders wont see through the tile. Tried to rent a UWB scanner but nobody has one. Any suggestions?

You just need the rubber piece but pin and rubber are a buck in the US. Didnt try to find a Canadian source as I would check model number first. Search for the pin part no and you it looks like you get the rubber.

Think I found it. Will order tomorrow from a Canadian source.

Are you going to clad the chimney?
Wife wants me to…I don’t. Not sure what to clad it with.

With any luck, the chimney won't survive the next renovation. Big fireplace really chops up the interior and eats up a lot of valuable sq ft.
I’ll send you the bank account to send me $500k to for the next Reno!

Figured I'd contribute to the shed building thread.

This is the new shed at my parent's house. He hired the concrete out and got a family friend to help him frame and sheet it. My dad and I did the metal roof, and I did all the wood siding and flashing. The big hole is for a roll up door thats on order. Also needs some grading work.

It looks super tall but its still like 2 feet below the allowable height.

That’s awesome! I didn’t consider the roll up door for mine but I don’t see a need personally.

When I set my front wall to the max height it looked so tall I ended up dropping it by a foot because the structure (I felt) was too tall.

The main reason for the roll up door was that the shed could store an ATV in the winter. He's already got the shed full of stuff so I don't see that happening, but its certainly easier to get the lawn mower and snow blower in and out.

It was the same here on the height. Originally it was a single side roof that went all the way up to 13ft whatever, and it was ridiculous how tall it was. I think its like 11.5ft at the peak now which is still tall but more reasonable.

Roll door is nice if you want a wider hole. They are surprising affordable. When I build my storage shed, it will have one on the side wall to access garden tool section. Theoretically that section will be about 6x10 with a 4'+ wide door

Depends on what you consider affordable. Its going to be close to $2500 for it installed (and it was only like $200 to have it installed). I think its a Wayne Dalton door.

The $400 Leadvision they sell everywhere is not something I'd waste my money on.

I bought a 6' sectional rollup door for my kid's toy garage in June. Insulated, came with tracks @ hardware, $300 at Rona.

The rollups like Leadvision are easy to install, but they get sticky and stiffen in the cold which makes them harder to roll - even the good brands.

Out of curiosity, can you post a link, please?
