Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

Anyone got solutions for fruit flies? Not sure what happened but we have so many of them in the kitchen it's getting ridiculous.

Not much sitting around to invite them over, but they just don't seem to quit.

A little apple cider vinegar in a bowl covered with saran wrap. Punch some holes through saran wrap with a toothpick. They go in and can't get out.

Get rid of any fruit not stored in the fridge.
Old beer in a open jar I think with some dish soap, just google home made remedies.
I go through this problem once a year, usually in Sep, I swear they come from the grocery contaminated. I just stop buying fruits around this time or when they appear.

If you have bananas that is where they are coming from, I swear they inject the fruit with them !?!

Painted my driveway black. It looks better from the bottom, as do I.

Sand from the plowing gets everywhere in the winter, and you can't get rid of it in the summer.

Was going to transplant the shed from my sisters house to our house as they’re tearing it down.

Started to take it apart but quickly realized it’s rotted, nailed together solidly, and anything I take apart I won’t be able to put it back together again.

So guess I’m building a new shed now…

Sheds move well on flat bed tow trucks . Winch it on , slide it off .

I'm sure they do. Lesson learned.

Thought I'd be able to re-use it...but there wouldn't be anything left of it after I took it apart.

Ah well. At least now I get to look at different designs.

Why you gotta be like that!? LoL

Not gonna lie I love the look of @AllistonGT ’s shed…maybe I’d prefer a double door.

I did buy enough siding for the house and a shed…
I dunno if that is really a shed, something about it makes me think there is something more to it, like a man cave, outdoor office, or how to get to the hidden bunker. Otherwise good looking.

I told my wife I want to build an office out there...she said that's a bad idea...but my 'shed' will have windows and eventually power...just in case.

Just looking at the options right now...what say the great minds of GTAM...worth it to insulate the shed considering I'm starting from ground up?

Technically it's supposed to be nothing more than a garden shed...but...I have BATT insulation for 2x6 cavities just lying around (from when I did my garage), and I have some R5 rigid insulation lying around as well...

Not planning in putting power there right off the bat, but for future proofing?

Not really sure if it's worth it.

If you are building a legal size shed, 2x6 walls really eat into your usable space (and cost a lot). I would probably peel the batts to put in 2x4 walls.

I doubt I would insulate before I decided to use it for something requiring insulation. At that point do electrical, mini-split, insulation, vapor barrier and finished surface all at the same time. I would vent the roof now. Good for the storage shed and necessary if you insulate it.

If you have enough and are storing the insulation, it is taking up space and the cost layout for materials is near zero.... I would store it inside the walls of the shed. Like @GreyGhost noted I would peel it down to 2X4 (assuming rockwoll and not fibreglass, ain't nobody got time for that) as 2X6 walls for the shed really do not make sense cost wise. The issue will of course be scope creep, well I insulated so now I drywall....

For electrical, if you are not insulating and covering I would leave it until you are ready other than maybe some conduit etc. to help get power to it. If the walls are empty you have the option of doing something different electrical wise when it comes time. If you are insulating and covering the interior walls now I would potentially run/rough-in whatever my current plans were inside the walls so you don't have to open them up to do it later.

Scope creep is the biggest downside IMO.

Nope. Just a shed. And thanks.

It’s really hard to compete with all the rural shed builders selling on the side of the highway . They are often “farmers” paying little tax , have access to bulk materials and have maximized costs using 2x3 to advantage . You can build a lovely shed , but Abraham the shed builder will undercut your cost with ease. And they usually own a flat deck to deliver …..
