Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

I grew up on septic , dont miss it . My pal finally did his own in parry sound district, bought a mini excavator and it worked out well . In Halton you now need to be a certified installer to dig the bed apparently.

I did the same on my first reno. The house had a 50 year old cedar log pit, and a single 50' clay tile. Bought a worn out skid steer with a bucket and front hoe attachment. Ministry guys were strict, but great to deal with.

Built 2 more after that, one was a conventional bed, the other a raised Whitby type above bedrock on Lake of Bays.

Learning the rules is harder than doing the work.

Sorry no detailed play by plays. Finished up building my shed a few weeks ago.
My goal was to make ours lives easier. No more having to carry seasonal stuff downstairs all the time. My 2 car garage has 3 cars (have a lift) and a motorcycle in it. I’ve utilized it as best as I can.
Went with 8’x12’. Didn’t want it to over power my 60’ wide back yard.

@Hardwrkr13 take note of the roof above, it the easiest to build for your playhouse.

It's frustrating to cut something twice and it's still too short.
TIP: If you cut it once and it's too short, cutting it again will still leave it to short.

Measure twice. Cut once.

Thanks but I already built a gable roof (just think it looks a bit nicer). Will be installing the shingles today after a morning workout. Did the T1-11 sides, four windows, and put on the roof plywood yesterday. Shingles, trim, a door, and if I have enough material a railing today.

Zip over the the lumberyard and pick up a 2x4 stretcher , fixes that in a jiffy

I had one, they don't stretch as much as advertised -- I tried skimping by buying 2x4 x92's diring Covid ($8/board cheaper than 96's). The stretcher advertised 4" of stretch, I could never get more than 2"

Paid $600 for the machine, it's for sale for $200 or BO. Well maintained, always oiled with T6, has a small dent from the previous owner.

All that’s missing is the flux capacitor…

That looks really nice. What did you use for roof waterproofing? It looks really shallow for shingles and most people don't want to pay for proper low-slope roofing.

Very very nice! I love the yellow door! What is the solar light for? Inside? Or is there power in there?

We were doing the paper stretch jokes and one guy told us we could borrow theirs if we could move it. It weighed a couple of tons. IIRC he worked for the MOT and they stretched paper to stabilized it when a map had to be extra precise. Digital has probably changed that to a pixel stretcher.

So I bought a Toto S550E bidet on Prime Day for a good price. I'm like 85% positive it will not fit on my current toilet, which is ok because I wanted a new toilet anyways. This thing basically needs to go on a Toto toilet.

Anyone have a Toto toilet and have any good recommendations? They have like 20 different toilets and I have no idea what the difference is even though half of them look the same...

So I went with a Toto Nexus. I wanted the Aquis IV but Plumbing & Parts in Whitby only had the Nexus in stock plus on sale. And I am an instant gratification kind of guy, so I wasn't waiting for the Aquis to be ordered.

Its a super odd install process for the toilet. I had to drill 6 holes into the floor to mount the base for the toilet. My floor is all concrete with radiant in-floor heating, so it really was just a hope and pray sort of thing while drilling. At least I don't have real tile flooring, only vinyl.

Also kind of effed up on ordering the bidet. Apparently there is Washlet and Washlet+ bidets from Toto - honestly I'm still not sure how I would have know there was a difference because Toto's website doesn't really explain it (and the amazon page didn't mention either). Since the Nexus is a Washlet+ toilet and the bidet I ordered is only a Washlet, I've got the water line from the bidet running outside the toilet, where it should be running through a passage in the toilet and be never seen. The difference between the two is the mounting bracket for the bidet itself and the water line has a different fitting. They are $$$ but I will likely buy the parts to hid the line. Still even with buying the new parts I'm in it a lot less than what Toto's MSRP is Nexus® WASHLET®+ S550e One-Piece Toilet - 1.28 GPF

Its pretty great though. It ridiculous to have bought it but I really do like it.

Next time borrow an IR camera before you drill the floor. Yikes. So easy to see and mark out the heat lines. Now, there probably shouldn't be any under the toilet but that depends on the installer. If they have some extra length, it could end up there.
