Alright...trying to figure out this one...
Want to make sure I have a proper insulated surface atop the brick and can't see what is best method...see 2 options below:
Option A (left) utilizes 2x4 strapping directly to the brick wall (which is more secure) and the insulation in b/w the furring strips. Unfortunately this also breaks the insulation envelope.
Option B (right) includes a full wall of 1/2" insulation, then 2x4 furring strips on that, with 2" insulation beside it.
I want to use 2x4 or 2x6 (overkill) for the furring strips simply because of the fact that it's a LOT of weight to put on the JH and mount it to the wall (material ordered).
Any thoughts or recommendations? there will also be a house wrap atop all of this underneath the siding.

Lower grade wood.
Yes lower grade wood , but you won’t find it at Home Depot , you’ll need to call REX lumber , as for Tony . Or call Tamarack , it’s an industrial grade , not a lumber yard thing .
Your framing wood is #2 spf dksd , which means 2 grade spruce pine fir , dried in a kiln to a surface dry , still damp inside . Tons of strapping is #3/4 grade kdsd , but won’t support framing structure , fine as strapping.

Maybe I'm late to the party, but why not use channeled EPS and 1×3 strapping?
Way easier, way faster, no plywood sheathing required.

My biggest concern with using 1x# is the opportunity for splitting of the wood once I screw it into the brick.
I may be overthinking it, and I'm planning on buying a single 2" insulation, a 1x3 or 1x4 and then see how it goes on one panel.
I'd really like to omit the 2x4 or 2x3 directly against the brick as I lose the R value every 24"
I do like the looks of that kids playset. Recommended?
Yes very much so. Kids love it.
We got it at COSTCO for around $1200 or $1300 right before the COVID jump in pricing. Very highly recommended.

If you are worried about splitting wood, you have options. Step up to 5/4x3 or 2x3 furring, or stick with 1x3 and use 1" fender type washers. You can slap up the EPS using PL, then go back and furr.
Nothing heavy, you can work on a ladder.

Not all instore items are on their website. Although play set should be on their site.
Keep in mind that the website price will be higher as they have shipping included in their prices.
If you can, go to a nearby Costco to pick up.
I would expect an item like this to be $100-$300 more expensive than the store.
