Enough of COVID...what are you doing to the house?

I have been looking for the push/pull knobs (push to open if door opens away from you, pull with a finger to open toward you) but they seem to be hard to find.

Two lights are in, one two foot, and one four foot. We're going to put two more in, right down the middle.

Why is there so much flying Romex? Fasten it where you can. A few staples will make your life easier and help prevent future issues.
It will be. It will be. The flying stuff is for one of the lights that I haven't put in yet.

Have to admire those mechanicals. Working in those tiny spaces with just enough wire/pipe/duct to hang themselves.

It's pretty bright in there now.

2 four foot panels and 2 two foot panels with a space on either end.

Looks good! Where did you get the lights? I want 2 for the basement. Laundry room and my office / gym.

Home Depot. I should look for discounts, since my kid works there.

Have to go back and exchange one pack of tiles for a smaller one. No mess ups, so far. :D
Three tiles left to cut.

Maybe I should get a job there before my renovation lol

Get job. Get discounts. Quit job.
Not sure that they give discounts per se. But you can sometimes find decent prices from the returns.
Some people have been known to buy something, do a renovation, then return it.

As you motor on thru life, whatever be your goal
Keep your eye upon the donut and not upon the hole..

Sorry couldn't resist.

EDIT: Also sorry it's not the right thread....

Plumbing will be the death of me...

Riobel says to caulk the drain with silicone in a three different spots to make seal. Ok I do that and it has a slight leak when I left the sink full for of water for an hour. I go online, basically no YouTube video I can find mentions anything about caulk - maybe a bead of plumber putty, but besides that the rubber gaskets, that the Riobel has mind you, is enough for every other drain to form a perfect seal. Not Riobel apparently...

Eventually find a video of some eastern European contractor, who basically caulks the sh*t out of it and says here's what you gotta do to not get a call back. Now we're talking. So now I've pulled the whole thing apart, used twice as much silicone, and we'll see how she goes in the morning.
Plumbing putty would have been the better choice....

Ah the problem was because of the alignment of the trap to the drain. I thought I had it lined up a lot better than it actually was, and didn't notice I was off by like 3/8". Everywhere where the silicone was didn't leak, but where the rubber gasket got wedged into the threads is where the leak came from.

Also instructions said silicone, so I used silicone. Lots of debate online on which one is better. Might as well start talking about which oil to use

I had three new toilets installed. One of them was a tankless bidet. It had a slow leak after installation, so I had the plumber back to look at it. He tried a couple of things, but it still leaked. I called the store to see about a warranty claim. They sent someone over who fixed it. There were a couple of friction fittings from the top to the bottom, that had to be manipulated and set properly. Might be worth getting in touch with the manufacturer or store to see how they'd do it.

I’m really looking at the Home Depot , toilet / bidet / toaster oven combo unit .it’s $649 which isn’t crazy , and I’m taking that bathroom apart anyway .
For those that have a bidet , how long until the novelty is gone ?

If it is cold water, I assume novelty goes away quickly. That being said, I have friends that have used cold water for years and are happy with their choice. They use very little toilet paper now.

Still using ours after around a year, although sometimes it's not worth grabbing the remote.

Ours automatically lifts the lid, and has a light for nighttime.
It's a slight pain in the ass having to then lift the seat to pee, and I don't usually start or wait around for the blow dryer cycle to finish.
We use less tp now. It's good for some problem defecations. Auto flush is sometimes hasty.
Warm seat is meh for me, but the kids keep turning it up to broil. It hasn't been difficult to clean.

If it's the Brondell you're looking at, they also have some models at Costco.

There's been a used Ove toilet in the shop at the ReStore for a while. It has a remote.
I don't need another remote.

I don't need nor want a toilet remote. Control panel on the side of the seat is perfect.

My first experience was in South Korea away from tourist hell. Obviously, no english at all on the control. Press a button and hope for the best. Quickly figured out which buttons I didn't want to press again.
