Dr. Seuss...

I understand Seuss, but what did Mr potato head do?

Anyone hear old enough to have had a Mr PH set where you supplied your own potato?
Again... internet and dumb people running away with headlines and simplification.
Mr Potato Head is not being "cancelled" only the name of the overall brand wiil change from Mr Potato Head toooooo you guessed it Potato Head.... that is all!

Or for simple adults.

The company I worked 50years ago for hired a diesel mechanic from the Caribbean and he wanted to see an Indian Reservation with teepees. Now it would be referred to as a First Nations reservation but even then they didn't live in teepees. I don't know if there are still some un-travelled Americans with strange concepts of Canada.
Alderville still has a teepee at the gas station. Obviously nobody lives in it.

Urban legend has lots of stories from the border of people heading north in the summer with snowmobiles. Not sure if they are true.

Ummm have you seen these bits on Jimmy Kimmel, they will tell you a lot about Americans, great people, but lets say, some of them are less sophisticated, exactly why Trump won.

Here is a recent one, they will have no trouble the Dr Seuss issue for obvious reasons...

50 years ago, I believe there was a fake fort on one of the highways where you could take your kids to go and play cowboys & indians, along with a big teepee display. We never went, so I'm not sure, if kids were limited to cowboy only, or exactly how it worked.

Edit: I just say a post claiming a NYT reporter wrote an article about Pepe Le Peu promoting rape culture. Might be worth a think.

The rape angle might be a bit weak but the stalking and harassment is pretty obvious.

Now we get into the sensitivity discussion with people that never have the problem saying it isn't a problem.

When he had visitors for my sisters wedding (~12yrs ago) from Poland we asked what they wanted to see.
‘An Indian village’
I told them it’s not what you expect but sure let’s go to Penatenguishine to the Lady among the Hurons as they stated they had ‘Indians’.
Let’s just say my uncles came out very disappointed.

Now when they saw a beautiful black girl in Niagara Falls, you could pick their tongues off the pavement as it’s not something they’ll likely ever see.

To this day we mock their reaction, but 12+ years ago it was hilarious.

40 ish years ago Dominion Stores (Now Metro) sold encyclopedias from the USA, next to free with accumulated sales receipts The entry for Lake Simcoe was "It freezes over in winter and provides a serviceable highway to the north."

Nobody lived in tipi's around here. Tipi's were a prairies thing.
... no... teepee's were a Hollywood thing
... so was the "wild" west
... as was the Klan burning crosses

Alderville DOES have some good deals on weed, so it has that going for it (and isn't the tipi at the gas station a memorial?)

The green mile in Alderville is a huge influx of cash. I know some of the proprietors who have been asserting their treaty rights to sell traditional medicine since long before weed was legal. What a crock. Oh well, they could have done worse things with their lives.

I don't know about the memorial. I haven't stopped there for more than 20 years.

Plains Indians lived in teepees , nomadic lifestyle following the buffalo
There was a 'wild' west , actual range wars and occasional gunfights, but more barn dances than barn burners.
I know very little about the Clan

When my M-I-L came from Europe after WWII she had never seen a black person or bananas. She got used to bananas but was innocently racist never quite being certain they were the same inside. She would never hurt a flea.

Doctor who?

Not sure how that is important, but the comedy writes itself in the example, does it matter what source it came from?
The weird part about that is that they were on the walk of stars.
According to semi-anonymous online posters, this isn't where the stupid people are from.

p.s. Does Dr. Seuss' name actually rhyme with voice?
