Ding Dong, the witch is dead....

61.9 billion in extra spending FML. the speaker should not be blocking the motion to table this review

61.9 billion is last year's deficit due to one-time charges arising from a couple of lawsuits that were settled (appears to have something to do with indigenous relations). Projected deficit for this year is 42-ish billion. Most new spending is coming from extending an investment tax break.

The statement has been "tabled" in parliament. What's not happening is the minister's speech concerning it.

There's supposed to be a caucus meeting happening right now. Evidently there's a long list of Liberal MPs who want Trudeau to step down.

The economic update does not account for potential US trade issues.

Gould is tabling the report. Leblanc is the new finance minister. He babysat JT as a child. You can't make this up. At least he's a lawyer and slightly smart, no finance background though. It seems as though a requirement to be liberal finance minister is to have no clue about finance or economics.

PP is the option. If you want to know more about the platfo

As far as platforms go, challengers (PP) keep their powder dry until it's the race starts. If he didn't, the opposition would have time to spin or co-opt their platform. If you want the high-level policy stuff, read it here.

While I'm staunchly conservative and understand why the plan is held close, I really wish JT would have made this harder for PP, that way he'd have to present some platform. So far all PP has needed to crush JY is 3 word phrases.

Axe the tax.
Build the homes.
Fix the budget.
Build the wall.
Stop the crime.

Thanks for the link. I skimmed through it. Looks mostly innocuous at first reading. I have a fundamental disagreement on the priority of addressing climate change, but the rest of it looks like ...

Axe the tax (ok, tax cuts - and there's more in there about reducing tax burden)
Build the homes (the most they can do federally is provide tax incentives ... tax cuts)
Fix the budget (with tax cuts? And with spending more on the military - which I agree that we need to do, by the way. How's that work?)
Build the wall (ok, spending more on border security - Keep US guns out! - No argument on that - by the way, this economic update includes an increase in spending on this - but this isn't exactly heading in the direction of "fix the budget")
Stop the crime (no argument - although this is heading towards spending more)

There's some stuff in there on cutting out corporate handouts. OK. Let's see the numbers. (At a certain point, incentives make a difference to jobs!)

So ... My opinion remains, it won't make a difference to the everyday person, which collection of clowns you put into a position of power.

Yup, I'm cynical.

typical liberal logic, if we don't talk about, it really didn't happen

liberals held an emerg caucus meeting and trudy wasn't in it?
He was at the front. Press has pics through the window. Was he begging for mercy or telling them of the riches he was about to bestow upon them? Jt has a press conference at 19:00.

His caucus wants him gone. Lots of quacking in the background

They're saying he'll be speaking closer to 20:00

The suspense is killing me... LoL

Camera panning the event... The elite glad-handing each other and drinkin' up the free booze.

Someone should lock 'em in that room and wait to see how long it goes before things turn Lord of the Flies... Lol
