Diet Sodas won't help some people.....

If you believe in the BMI here is the answer for a man 5'10" and 180lbs: http://www.cdc.gov/healthyweight/as.../results_overweight.html?pounds=180&inches=70
Say's that is overweight.

I think the BMI is 100% totally a crock of SH*T, and so does pretty much everyone else I work with. Almost everyone, even the guys with a good build and a 6 pack is close to or is overweight according to the BMI, unless you're one of those tall lanky people you're fat.

According to that ^^ I'm obese and : For your height, a normal weight range would be from 144 to 194 pounds.

I would look like an anorexic bean pole at 190lbs, let alone 144. lol hahaha

I stopped looking at a scale long ago. It's how fit I am relative to my activites (like Caboose said, compete near the top %) and what you look like in the mirror.

I disagree with the whole weak mind comment.

'Boose I don't think it's a personal shot by any means. And people seem to take those kinds of comments that way. But he really is right. You could be shredded as **** if you denied yourself all the pleasures that you need to achieve an adonis body. But you don't, that's your call, but don't say you are just that way. We all need to eat according to our own bodies. We may tend to store fat in certain areas and it may be a lot tougher for some to lose it, however its possible for EVERYONE. It's just a question of if you feel the sacrifice is worth it.

^ Pretty much spot on. I'm not saying everyone should be ripped. THere is no way I could run a marathon but that's not my goal. I KNOW I could do it if I put my mind to it and trained for it (not saying I'd be winning races but I'm sure I could train to a half decent time). If your goal is not to be shredded and you are satisfied with carrying 10-20 extra lbs of fat that's A-OK. I'm sure you could run circles around me in a race. BUT, to say that the reason you're not shredded is because "that's just the way you are" or were born or whatever, than yes, I stand by my statement, that's making excuses and is weak.

Some people don't order Diet Soda's because they're concerned with their diet. They may order because they are diabetic and they can't consume that much sugar as it will spike their blood sugar.

I have a slow metabolism. That's just the way I am, thats not an excuse.

If you can't acknowledge that it can be a lot harder for some than others to look 'fit' then you're retarded.

I don't think they are getting on your case about it. I think they are just saying that while it may be more difficult for you (and a lot people), its still possible. It just may mean that you might have to be far more disciplined than the folks who are naturally lean and athletic in achieving the goal of being shredded.. Im probably a lot like you as if I eat a lot, the weight comes on very fast.. Some people are naturally blessed and others are not. You just got to make do with what you got.

You have no idea. Video and photos don't do her justice. FYI... she did a little (all solo, as far as I know) porn under the name Susanna Spears... ;)

Im going to need to look this up when I get home. That chick is smoking hot. I had no idea they were in Kingston.

The statement that he stands by is retarded.

I know it's not impossible but it's a lot more difficult for those who weren't blessed with hummingbird metabolisms. A friend of mine was a UWO varsity wrestler, he's pretty active still but not as active as me. He also eats about twice as much as me. I'm not exaggerating at all, he quite literally eats about twice as much as i do. He's very lean.

I could say that if i had his metabolism i'd be just as lean as he is. Does that make me weak? Or is it a simple statement of fact?

Agreed.

I don't mean that i'm obese.. But im carrying a bit extra i can afford to lose. Lets say im about 15lbs from being happy walking around at the beach with my shirt off!

I've always had a tummy even if I was skinny. I guess its the way I was born. If you're comparing yourself to magazines or posters, that's not fair. Those guys starve themselves before the photoshoot. I do look like that, when I come home from the gym and starving, lol.

Yeh that's retarded. If that was based in the 1940's I'd understand. Maybe they haven't update that in ages.

BMI is total crap. I'm considered obese, lol.

Weak mind comment is valid

Ok I take that back. You're right. Your bodytype dictates how you look for life and you can't change it. You were born a meso so you'll never be lean. I was born an ecto so I'll never be big. FML

Since when were you a 14 year old girl?

Spare us the dramatics. You made a silly blanket statement and you know enough about fitness and nutrition to know that I caught you on this one. But you stand by it?

(if, by chance, you're referring to obese people that don't even try and make excuses.. I have no sympathy for them.. But you made no such distinction?)

Do you think women are weak if they struggle to add muscle? Their physiological make up certainly makes it more difficult for them to bulk up versus men.

We should have a GTAM charity knockout :D

Dude, calm down. I never said it's not easier for some than others to loose weight. And I applaud your efforts to exercise and eat relatively healthy if that's what you're doing. You're probably in better shape than most people and you should be proud of that BUT if you really wanted to get shredded you could. Sure, you'd have to stop drinking beer completely, maybe spend more time doing cardio than you currently do and it would probably negatively affect your social life and maybe cut into track time/racing. And even THAN, you'd need to have the right information to make sure you're doing it all properly (diet is on point, etc.) so that you get the results. BUT it can be done, given you are willing to make sacrifices. You choose to stay in good shape but aren't willing to make the sacrifices to bring it to that level necessary to achieve that look. NOTHING WRONG WITH THAT, but THAT is the reason you're not there and not "I was born that way". It's about priorities.

I'm sure you would murder me at the track. How would you feel if we raced, you murdered me and I said "you beat me cause you just have that natural talent for racing, I'll never be very fast" knowing that I've casually done a few track days and you probably invested thousands of $$$ and thousands of hours at the track honing your skills? Yes, being Rossi takes talent, and not everyone can be Rossi BUT anyone can get pretty fast by investing a lot of money and time into developing their skills. And I'm sure Rossi has dedicated A TON of time to get as good as he has. I'd like to see someone spend as much time at the track as Rossi and be a slow rider.

Some people never will be that fast because they dont have the motor skills to control a bike.

Some people will never be pro basketball players because they dont have the hand eye coordination required.

Some of this stuff is genetic, some of it is environental and some of it is random. Sometimes no amount of training or dedication will get someone to their goal. Does that make them weak??

Moot point seeing as you are a healthy adult. You could achieve that look. You just don't have achieving that level of bodyfat as a priority. This is not a genetic limitation for you. In fact very few people on earth are genetically limited from achieving a very lean body. 99.99% are limited by their will power and drive to reach that physique.

I really think you are misunderstanding the point. It obviously is not your goal to reach that look, this is not something that can be blamed on genetics. I am not unlike yourself I pack on fat quite easily, however manage to maintain a pretty lean body by exercising frequently, abstaining from drinking more than once or twice a month and generally eating what would be considered pretty close to a paleo diet. It's not always the most fun, but for me staying lean is worth the sacrifice, so I do it.

Just to sum it up. The statement in bold is not true. If the goal is to have a 6 pack with no spare tire etc. this goal is pretty much achieveable by any healthy person with the correct guidance and diet and training. And I would go so far as to say it's achievable within only a 1 year span of training and diet for the vast majority of people.

Fair enough. I still dont automatically label someone as weak if they may be fighting against a physiological handicap.

I'm still behind ya.

I'm not a drinker. I haven't had fast food in I don't know how long, pop is reserved for cheat day.
I had some guy in line behind me at the grocery store make the comment "wow, you sure eat healthy" when he saw what I was eating... I eat pretty good.

I've been working out pretty hard the last few weeks, lots of cardio and Insanity and some upper body lifting. I've lost a bit in the torso, but the only difference is my legs gaining mass. Same issue I've always had.

I saw a picture the other day, of me at the beach at age 6. Even then I had broad shoulders (for a kid) and muscular legs... Just the way my body likes to be.
It doesn't matter how much running I would do, I would never be "slender".
Put on muscle mass? Fairly easy for me. Getting body fat below 10% will be a challenge for me... But I'm trying this time. Going home for the holidays will make the diet hard that's for sure.
