Diet Sodas won't help some people.....

Works for 20 year olds too. I live on my own and try to not have junk food 'cause I know I'll eat it. Give me a tub of ice cream and watch it disappear. I don't drink pop at all and haven't since some was given to me when I was 6, just not a fan of carbonation. But ya, not stocking the food makes it easier to eat healthier, but also makes you crazy, for example I am currently craving some chocolate chip cookies to go with my milk.

Sounds like me. I figure that when one opens a box of cookies, tub of IC it's going to be eaten sooner or later so why not do it now.
If it's there I'll eat it. Unfortunately my wife also thinks it's her job to make sure I have enough and then overdoes it.

People have a misconception about construction work. Sure we burn more calories than a desk jockey but not double.

Snacks? Why do we need snacks? If you're hungry stop and eat a meal. We are snacking ourself to death. How far away is the next meal? If people can survive for weeks in a lifeboat don't you think we could handle a few hours?

I honestly DO NOT have a sweet tooth at all. Went to Mexico last week with the GF, she would start eating deserts after dinner, lunch, etc. at the buffet and me? I joined her the first couple of times but after a while, I said, no, I don't even enjoy it. WHy should I force myself to eat something unhealthy if it honestly doesn't bring me any pleasure whatsoever just cause other people do it. I'll eat a few squares of chocolate here and there and occasionally have an ice cream cone but other than that? No thanks! I don't think I've bought a bag of chips in like 3-4 years, there are many, much better alternatives. I slowly weened myself from sugar and cream in coffee (mostly just drink black now), regular soft drinks, and a bunch of other things and I honestly don't crave them whatsoever. When I have a regular coke now I feel disgusting from the sugar overload as I'm not used to it anymore.

I didn't just stop eating/drinking certain things, I've taught myself not to like them at all, just like I taught myself to just generally want to eat a lot all the time since that's what my body needs. I used to rarely be hungry but I TAUGHT myself to eat and crave food all the time so now, I don't have to FORCE myself to eat most of the time, I just do it, just like I rarely CRAVE junk since I taught myself not to like it. Another example; I rarely FORCE myself to work out, I love working out. The brain is a powerful thing and yes, you can change any part of yourself you want, it just takes effort. Even your personality! I used to be very timid and quiet in high school.........didn't like that, so I changed it.

Whenever, someone says "I eat whatever I want" it's a very deceptive statement because what they "want" to eat could actually be healthy while what you "want" to eat is crap. A lot of "naturally skinny" girls are skinny because they have a decent metabolism AND because they generally don't like eating a lot. The term "naturally" is a BS cop out term either. Your body doesn't want to naturally be anything, it's a combination of your metabolism and your eating/exercise habits. If your eating habbits were different than your body would want to "naturally" be a different weight.

Whenever someone says something like "that's just the way I am, can't change it" etc. I cringe inside because I think they are weak and have a horrible attitude. It's sad.

On the bright side, there are programs out there, like the huge beachbody movement (p90x, insanity, chalean extreme) which have probably saved hundreds if not thousands of lives which deserve a kudos, and all those people who've decided to go ahead with it.
Or the bodyrock.tv which is even "better" as it's free access on the interwebs. Its not like solutions arent there, they can be found in your basement and in your kitchen...DONT EVEN NEED A GYM

As they say, you need to find time, not excuses!

Like, i understand that this whole life change is pain and discomfort, but unhealthy lifestyles probably bring even more pain an ddiscomfort down the line.
Up until i was 18ish, i hated soft drinks (or any carbonated drink), didnt REALLY eat fastfood, just ate mostly mama's food or friggin cheese sandwiches.
Didnt want to try pizza, fish, didnt trust burgers outside of those id seen being made, salads had no dressing, etc..
I was ridiculously skinny and fit. (like 5'7-5'8, 130lbs) Could do one arm pullups and jibba jabba like that without a sweat.

Then college happened. Eating crap, drinking all the time, BUT i was working in restaurants so i was running on my feet all the time and running after the buses (as im always last minute) so at 5'8 i had a steady 140 lbs

Then i moved to Ontario... knew no one here, worked a desk job, wasnt active AT ALL. I gained 35 lbs over 2 years. Didnt care much about it or didnt care to DO much about it...thats until i get in my car after work, and my button POPS OFF my pants...like in the movies. That was enough to get me to lose weight and get fit again!

People need to find a motivation, something that makes them feel 'uncomfortable' enough to make a change instead of finding ways to justify being unhealthy/overweight.

I know the Bodyrock people. They're in Kingston. Having coffee with Zuzanna was a definite highlight of knowing them. ;)

Some people it's true don't put in the effort, and I think the same thing... "you're just too lazy to get off the couch" but there are some people that naturally carry extra around but are fit. I can pass the entry PT test for our special forces, yet I naturally carry weight. It is a battle for some people... But then again, you can see if someone is just fat or if there is some muscle mass underneath.
Most of my weight is in my legs. It looks like I do nothing but 400lb squats, but I actually avoid heavy leg work outs.
Not saying you can't make your body what you want it to be, but some people do have a set body type. If I was to ever hit 150 which is the suggested weight for my height, I would literally be skin and bones... I would look malnourished.

Honestly, watching her work out makes me want to hit the gym. She is so damn hot.

You have no idea. Video and photos don't do her justice. FYI... she did a little (all solo, as far as I know) porn under the name Susanna Spears... ;)

For real, I'm concerned about them as well. I realize that some people are metabolically built that way, but most of the time I assume that there are health issues involved. If the rest of their appearance looks unkempt then I usually think of dug abuse.

I don't think there are many comments here that would qualify as "pot shots". I mean, it IS a health concern worth of discussion, is it not?

I asked because the son of a friend of mine has an eating disorder. Looking at him is more revolting to me than someone who is overweight. No 24-year-old man should be 64 lbs! He obviously has some serious body dysmorphia and maintains that he's "fat and gross."

Of course, this sort of thing begs the question: how does poking fun at fat people create eating disorders on the complete opposite of the spectrum? It infuriates me that people like him would rather die than be considered "fat." As if his entire worth as an individual is tied to how others perceive his body. Man, we live in a very screwed up culture.

Btw, I'm not singling you out, short stop, your post is just the one I quoted for my reply.

I honestly expect better from you.

I was always a fat kid. I topped out at 255lbs. It wasn't until two years ago that i really decided to make some changes. I dropped from 238 to 180 in about 6 months.

I eat better than probably 99% of the population. I'm extremely athletic and my competion results tell me i am a very strong cyclist (top 5% in a race) and even tho i dont look like a runner i can hold my own with most.
All that.. And i still have pesky love handles and a bit of a belly i have struggled to get rid of. I'm 5'10" and i figure i'm about 15lbs overweight. And all 15lbs of it is in my spare tire! Lol.

You can call me weak... But i would disagree.

+1 to this!

I'm about 15 lbs overweight according to cultural standards of so-called beauty and thinness... and I don't care. I'm not unhealthy, and if someone such as Roasted wants to see me as "weak" for refusing to abide by his rules of what constitutes 'strength' and a 'healthy attitude' then it's his problem, not mine.

Don't worry dude, I get ya.

I do enjoy passing all these "fit" dudes 9km in to a run and seeing the "wtf" look on their faces lol.

If you believe in the BMI here is the answer for a man 5'10" and 180lbs: http://www.cdc.gov/healthyweight/as.../results_overweight.html?pounds=180&inches=70
Say's that is overweight.

I think the BMI is 100% totally a crock of SH*T, and so does pretty much everyone else I work with. Almost everyone, even the guys with a good build and a 6 pack is close to or is overweight according to the BMI, unless you're one of those tall lanky people you're fat.

'Boose I don't think it's a personal shot by any means. And people seem to take those kinds of comments that way. But he really is right. You could be shredded as **** if you denied yourself all the pleasures that you need to achieve an adonis body. But you don't, that's your call, but don't say you are just that way. We all need to eat according to our own bodies. We may tend to store fat in certain areas and it may be a lot tougher for some to lose it, however its possible for EVERYONE. It's just a question of if you feel the sacrifice is worth it. I've always been of the opinion that no food/drink every feels as good as when you are proud to rip your shirt off. So even though I tend to store fat a lot like you do I find that thought motivation enough.

No doubt you've obviously accomplished a lot with your physique, but I am certain if you take the time you can get rid of that spare tire. So I don't think you really fall into the category of weak people that Roasted was referring too. And hell we are all weak at some time or another.

EDIT:

Don't worry my BMI says obese... hahaha. It's not made for sexy people.
