I witnessed this yesterday at the food court.... lady in front of me had an A&W Teen Burger meal plus chubby chicken sandwich plus an extra Papa Burger.... with a diet coke.

Just thought I would share. lol

I haven't had a full carbonated beverage to myself for at least 2 years.... I might have had half a can or two during that time, but never finished it.

My lunch/dinner beverage is usually just water or, if I eat out, iced tea.

It's sad to see so many young over weight kids today and parents doing nothing about it... When i was growing up there was no sit at home and play Video games all day.... i was outside playing, building forts, riding my bike till the street lights came on......

Oh and soda Pop and chipswere treats growing up i was lucky to get once a mount...

it's a shame. i haven't seen kids play any road sports in a long long time.

Once a kid gets fat, he can never really lose it, either. Fat cells stay with you for life, you can deplete them but they will still be in your body asking for you to eat more food.

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL THE KIDS WHO WERE BORN in the ’60s ’70s & ’80s
First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they carried us.
They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a tin and didn’t get tested for diabetes.
We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, doors or cabinets and when we rode our bikes, we had no helmets, not to mention, the risks we took hitch-hiking .
As children, we would ride in cars with no seat belts or air bags. Riding in the back of a van – loose – was always great fun.We drank water from the garden hosepipe and NOT from a bottle. We shared one soft drink with four friends, from one bottle and NO ONE actually died from this.

We ate cakes, white bread and real butter and drank pop with sugar in it,but we weren’t overweight because……WE WERE ALWAYS OUTSIDE PLAYING!!In the summer we would leave home in the morning and play all day, as long as we were back when the streetlights came on.
No one was able to reach us all day. And we were O.K We would spend hours building our go-carts out of scraps and then ride down the hill, only to find out we forgot the brakes. After running into the bushes a few times, we learned to solve the problem .
We did not have Playstations, Nintendo’s, X-boxes, no video games at all, no 99 channels on cable, no video tape movies, no surround sound, no cell phones, no text messaging, no personal computers, no Internet or Internet chat rooms……….WE HAD FRIENDS and we went outside and found them!
We played with worms and mud pies made from dirt, and the worms did not live in us forever.

Made up games with sticks and tennis balls and although we were told it would happen, we did not poke out any eyes.We rode bikes or walked to a friend’s house and knocked on the door or rang the bell, or just yelled for them! Local teams had try-outs and not everyone made the team. Those who didn’t had to learn to deal with disappointment. Imagine that!!
The idea of a parent bailing us out if we broke the law was unheard of. They actually sided with the law!
This generation has produced some of the best risk-takers, problem solvers and inventors ever!

The past 50 years have been an explosion of innovation and new ideas.

We had freedom, failure, success and responsibility, and we learned HOW TO DEAL WITH IT ALL!And YOU are one of them! CONGRATULATIONS!

And its only getting worse. I don't really think its such a good thing that some kids these days can fully operate an iPad at the age of 4 but can't hold and operate a crayon.

i always get a chuckle when people ask for the "lite" mayo, on their sub.

yeah.. it'll make a differnce alright:rolleyes:

just skip it altogether. I never put dressing on any salad, or sub, if its anything, its franks Red Hot.

All I drink is Green Tea Ice Tea. I quit coffee and other junk months ago. Feel like a new man.

I always thought it was funny when I worked at Wendy's in high school how many people would come in and order massive meals and then get something like a diet pop or fries with no salt.

Also, I trust the normal stuff with normal sugar in it a lot more. Tastes better, too. Our corporate nurse told us the same thing at my company's orientation. She said you should pick regular pop over diet and just drink less of it.

I was raised with diet soft drinks... I can't drink the regular stuff.

I was raised on regular soft drinks. Two liters of regular coke a day e'ry day..........still wasn't fat. Thank god for my inhuman metabolism! Switched to diet about 3 years ago. Haven't been over 12% bodyfat since. :P

I still drink diet coke/coke zero all the time. The only reason I'm contemplating quitting is that some recent studies link aspartame to hair loss and now at 30 years old my hair is starting to thin a bit.

Saw an article on that. The gist is that you are 'programming' your body as a child to have a certain disposition for the rest your life. I'll have to find it if anyone is super interested.

I always go with Honey Mustard.........has some flavor but generally low fat and not that many cals. Unless I'm actually dieting than no dressing ever.

Sometimes its not what u eat but sometimes what u do. When i was younger, i had a softdrink with my breakfast, had no concerns on what i eat. But then again i was always outside playing ball. I remember when i was 16 i would play b-ball for 4hrs non stop, lol. I dont think i can do that anymore. I was always skinny. I've put on some weight but i'm still 8% bodyfat. I'm 175 @ 5'8.

In short i've never been concerned with diet only how to keep fit

It's funny you told this story, because it reminds me of a guy I work with. This guy is MORBIDLY obese, like I'm talking 500-ish lbs, no exaggeration. He's also in his early 50's, so he's a walking heart attack just itching to happen. This man can't walk from his car to his seat in the office without wheezing like he's about to drop dead. It's absolutely amazing the amount of food this man eats through his shift, and yet he sticks to diet drinks (his favourite is Fresca) because "his doctor told him to". And it just boggles the mind......I'm pretty sure his doctor has also told him to LOSE SOME WEIGHT, and yet he cherry picks the instructions to just drink diet soda.

It's like watching an alcoholic booze themselves to death right in front of you....yet you can't say anything, because commenting on someone's weight is offensive.

I've always had "extra"... Nearly impossible to lose. I'm pretty athletic. Work out practically every day except sunday (thats in the winter... in the summer it's pretty much every day). That's a work out in the morning (nothing too crazy normally) and then at night I usually have some sport to play or I'll do a hard work out... So for like 4 or 5 days a week it's 2 work outs/day.
My diet while not perfect is better than most peoples, including all these naturally skinny people. And I can honestly say it's due to putting on that initial weight when I was around 13.
In order to lose weight, I have to be PERFECT with my diet and it comes back fast. And I do a proper diet, not one of these "fads" just proper nutrition

Honey Mustard is the way to go when I go to Subway.

I see so many people drinking diet pop... You're just better off to drink regular pop and limit how much... Thirsty? Nothing beats crisp ice cool water... even tap water in most places tastes good.
When I get my groceries, if something says "no sugar" I double check the ingredients to see what they are using. If it's aspartame it's a no go.

My mom is horrible. Drinks at least a liter of pop per day and likes to sit down at the computer eating from a bag of chips or whatever "healthy" version of such and then wonders why she's packed on the lbs the last couple years...

I mourn for the loss of common sense.

How is it hard to understand if you are fat and dont like yourself, bring about change. Like a smoker that is "always quitting".....tomorrow... or the boozer that will cut down .... tomorrow. Diet coke, salt free chips and lite mayo wont make you thinner. Just put less stuff down your pie hole.
