Dallas sheriff makes up charge against biker on Memorial Day [video]

Two sides to every story, and as the 2nd vid shows a whole group of riders were being jackasses on public roads and they all deserved to be busted. The guy who got caught most likely was doing it too, so don't feel so bad for him.

I guess you dont really notice the difference between stunt riders and regular riders bikes.....The guys doing the stunts have stunt bikes, most of them with no fairings...All of them have crash cages, 12 bars, flipped handle bars or dirt bars, etc etc.....The guy that was pulled over is a regular street rider, riding a minty clean street bike...On these big stunt rides generally %50 or less of the people attending are actually doing stunts, the rest are just along for the ride...

The only thing he may be guilty of is being along for the ride as a spectator IMO

What are you talking about? He didn't commit ANY violation. What video where you watching?

I'd be curious to know more about this crystal ball and the apparent ability to read it, you seem to have.

What multiple violations?

In the helmet cam video, I saw the guy lane split and change lanes without signalling. Plus the obscured plates equals multiple violations.

Again, back at you. What did the cop do wrong?

To those who say the biker refused to turn over his camera due to incriminating film, has it occurred to you that maybe:
1) It's a $500 Go Pro (example) that he may never see again once he turns it over to the police?
2) He's worried that the police may erase their arrest encounter, and it would be his word against theirs in court?

Cause that'd be my top two concerns if I was getting my *ss manhandled by the police.

he should have ask the cop to call his supervisor while he was calling his lawyer. he was detaining the rider for what reason? was he under arrest? was he a danger to the cop?

the list could go on and on for reason why the cop was in the wrong.

I really don’t have much of a problem with what happened here.
I mean it’s pretty obvious as to why the cop wanted the camera in the first place.
So they take it back to the station….make a copy and give him his camera back.
If someone is charged later on because of what’s on the camera then so be it.
If this evidence is deemed inadmissible in court then I think that’s up to Dallas courts to decide.
Certainly not me or most of the posters in this thread.

Im no lawyer by any means but I’m pretty sure anyone can be pulled over at anytime for any reason or no reason.
It used to be called a safety check….don’t know what they call it now.

So let’s say things all go well for the cops and a bunch of these guys get charged with careless driving or whatever.
All because there buddy wore a helmet cam.
I see someone getting a kick in the nads in the future

Obscured license plate is probably one of the weaker excuses the cop could have used.

Lol. Lane splitting and no signaling? Lol. Defiantly deserved to be arrested. What's next , being arrested for not coming to a complete stop at a stop sign? I've on occasion forgot to put on my seat belt while driving. I guess I should be greatful that the cops were nice and ONLY gave me a ticket.

Did anyone actually believe this cop on the charge to begin with? Must have been hard to see on that nice sunny day in Texas Hah. I can't even believe some people on here are sticking up for this piece of sh** cop. You wanna talk about justice? This guy should be kicked off the force and never be aloud in a doughnut shop. Instead nothing will probably happen or he is suspended from duty WITH pay.

Pretty sure 2 of the cops ran off to a donut shop half way through the video. LOL

I answered your question didn't I?

Why won't you answer my question?

in my opinion, he was extremely unprofessional, not to mention that trying to confiscate the guys camera without a warrant or probable cause is a violation of his 4th amendment rights. You may be pleased as punch to cooperate with law enforcement when they are being unreasonable, since it's easier for them to make a case against you when while you're busy incriminating yourself on god only knows what charge they come up with. I also highly doubt that something like an obstructed license plate is an arrestable offense, and was only placed under arrest so that they could justify confiscating his camera and performing a search.

This is slightly unrelated, but serves as a good reminder why you should never talk to the police. Yes, it's almost an hour long, but trust me, it's worth watching.

Well, I looked at it again. He didn't lane split, but was lane split upon, and because it seemed like he was ok with it more than once, does tend to place him with the rest. His plate, while not stock, was plainly visible. That is very weak. And how can you say he didn't signal a lane change? Again with the psychic stuff..

But I will say that he did have a more defensive type attitude from the start..saying "what?" a couple times before the cop got to him...obviously annoyed as anyone would be to be, pulled over when there were so many more deserved suspects to pick from.

I guess I am sensitive to this type scenario because I was an innocent victim. Not hearsay, it happened to me as having been the mistaken identity victim.

Watching how easily he loses his temper and assaults the innocent rider, is just proof that he is poorly trained, and should never have been given a badge in the first place, he's not professional enough to do the job.

One day cameras will be mandatory for the police, then we'll see how many really are dirty pirates with an attitude.

I didnt see the cops lose their tempers, nor did I see any assault. They were firm, for sure, but then person being arrested was a bit agitated and resisting (and rightfully so!)

Cops want cameras in all cars. They have been begging for years, since they want the accusations of brutality to be gone. This costs a lot of money. Its not like they are just GoPro cameras. These systems are hands-off for the officers, so that they cannot manually delete a call. They all get automatically transferred to their video services unit. They are expensive, and lack the specific budget for a mass rollout.

The real answer is the cop did nothing wrong. He was probably low on blood sugars (because of missed donut run) or " dehydrated" maybe was dropped on his head as a child. Maybe his mother didn't show him enough love or he is insecure of his small penis size. I can tell you he probably doesn't get laid enough and is getting fed up with constantly masterbating. Either way he cant be blamed for his actions. His conduct, how he treated/ handled the situation was poor in my opinion, he didnt read the accused his rights, and arrested someone for an obstructed license plate which I think is bs

if the cops really want cameras, why when they are caught on one they get so defensive, ahhhh i get it. we can always go back and erase the bad stuff and only show the good if we need to go to court

The cop, assuming that under Texas law you can be arrested for traffic violations, did nothing specifically wrong.

Does anyone have a copy of the Texas MVA to verify?

Oh and Fastar...Texas has legalized lane splitting :-)

Yes, and accused COULD go back and erase evidence, but that isn't really a concern, as if the cop had a justified reason to arrest the person with the camera, then the camera could be legitimately seized as evidence.

The reality is, cops are already told to act like they are on camera at all times. Some remember this and act with the professionalism we expect, and others don't.

Speaking from experience?

Let me do what the cop did to him to you, lets see if you say I assaulted you after.

The cop was out of line from the beginning and he did lose his temper. When they go at you like that you don't know if you are seconds away from getting smacked down. The situation could have been handled far better especially since the arrest was so thin. This is the reason 8 out of 10 people don't trust the police and good cops don't act like that. There is a cop you cant trust to do the right thing
