Covid booster

I have an unvaxxed friend but he's not anti vax. He is terrified of needles to the point of fainting. A large vaccine centre with line ups and seeing others getting the jab is not for him.

He got as far as booking a shot but turned back when he got to the place. Anxieties and phobias are hard to understand if you don't have one. He's in his 40's so getting to the time of life where doctor's appointments will typically require a blood test.

Dart gun?

I'm a good shot!

That phobia sucks. My recommendation is to ask him what it would take to rationalize this. He identifies he is afraid of needles so avoids them, doesn't have them and thus not dealing with the fear.

He knows he has to get the shot and needs help getting to it. This is my only suggestion.

Seriously, a quick stab out of the blue is the only option at the moment. A roofie and a wheelbarrow might not meet liability considerations.

I have pointed out to him that his extended family lives in Central America and if someone gets sick the only way he could possibly get back to see them is a sailboat out of Halifax.

He is self employed and turned down a serious coin job because he would have to fly to Fort Mac. He gets tested every couple of days but at some point that won't work. QR or go home.

Pills are still a way off.

Even without covid, needles are used for blood tests and once one reaches middle age all kinds of stuff shows up that if treated early allows for a longer healthier life. Another friend just didn't like doctors and went without checkups for ages. When he fainted at the cottage the hospital found he had colon cancer. Fortunately, by dumb luck, he's eight years clear and doesn't have to wear a bag.

Most of us have things that we find distubing but this is full blown psycho.

3 outbreaks on different floors at work and a new person got shoved into my office.

Blah 😒

we have closed our office for all non essential staff ( IT guy and accounting get to stay) and its back to home office purgatory. Bean counters and introverts love it, I've been in sales forever and interacting with people is how I make a living.
Will re assess at the end of january .

does anyone know if there's a time lag between having Covid-19 and getting a booster?
As an aside (no intention to hijack your thread)

Not sure about the time gap between a C-19 infection and getting a booster, but there is a recommended gap between the Prevnar vax and the C-19 vax.
IMO, it is worth getting the Prevnar/Pneumococcal vax and the Flu vax, cos even tho' the causes differ, the symptoms of C-19, Flu, and pneumonia are quite similar.

Best to check with your doc as each person may have their own underlying health conditions.

so I called my doctor but she directed me to public health, and according to Halton Public Health, if you've been previously Covid-19 positive, or deemed a close contact, as long as you're out of your isolation period and feeling well (no symptoms at all), then you can get vaccinated/boosted...I didn't ask about timelines with other vaccines/shots as they don't apply in my scenario, but this is what they told me...ciao! :D

Had to cancel ours, and there really hard to come by at this point.

I managed to make one at Shoppers when old people were first allowed, and it was for the 25th of January. The government finally came out with a location, and we booked for January 2nd. On the 31st I tested positive, so no booster for me yet.

Kids all work minimum wage retail at the moment, so it was a matter of when, not if.

Funny enough, it was the Home Depot, and not the Food Basics, where it was picked up.

Anecdotally:
Five day isolation time, seems to be crap for some people.
You can probably spread it a day or two before the symptoms are bad enough for you to notice.
You also may test negative within that period.
I felt it on New Years Eve, tested positive at that point, and am still stuffed up a little.
I tested negative on the 27th.
Youngest, who picked it up first, has tested clean in the meantime.
We've run out of rapid tests, and the new ones won't be in until later in the month.

Symptom wise, it was like a bad cold. Stuffed up, sinus headache, runny nose, sore throat, lethargy.

Guess I'm going to become one of those super immune types.

Good protection "against serious disease".

Not the same thing as good protection against infection.

While it would be nice to have a booster shot that gives good protection against infection, such a thing is not available yet.

In the absence of that, I'll settle for something that improves my odds of staying out of the hospital. I can deal with being under the weather for a couple of days, should it come to that.

Agree 100%. Had my booster on Dec 19th, tested positive on Dec 25th. It didn't give me enough time for the booster to kick in, but having 2 previous doses definitely put less mental stress on me and family. We did whatever was available to stay protected, it is what it is, you can't win. No 100% protection from the infection.

I just had mine and no serious side effects. Minor headache after for a few hours, but that was it. Didn't even ask what I got, but I think Moderna.

Some friends are saying it's still all BS because they know people that are 2x/3x vaxxed and still end up laying in bed barely able to move when they get it.

MIL is literally on her way right now to get hers, and my wife will ask if they can give her a jab while she's there anyway considering she's pregnant. Fingers crossed.

If anyone needs a good laugh you could always read up on what happens to Montreal “influencers” when they act like knobs on a flight. Honestly, between that and Novax the tennis player the week has provided quite a bit of covidiot entertainment.

12 of the plane wankers jumped on another flt home when they realized the crap they were in . Balance of the flight are stuck looking for a way home from Mexico. There are ways home , but it’s gonna be expensive.

I am at ease now that our great prime minister has stated there will be a full investigation into incident. I don't know what there is to investigate it is all very clear in video. I think he should direct an investigation into dealings with SNC, We charity, mckenna's missing billions, etc.

It sounds like the dbag in chief was among them. Great tour leader that flees and leaves you in a foreign country when his bad plans collapse.

According to the Montreal gazette and others there are 30 of them that tested COVID positive in Mexico so they can’t leave, some were trying to spoof results by rubbing Vaseline up their noses, police are waiting for them at the airport.

Here’s the thing, if that’s true….how many others are testing positive abroad?
