Covid booster

@hdsomeday correct, however it's not taking new year's eve which is this weekend into account...personally I think they should have put us online for two weeks then go back to in person...but who am I, I'm just a lowly teacher...

Edit to add: we had 6 classes shut down in my school just before the break, which is why I think they should have gone the 2 week route...

@Brian P that workforce shortage will bring chaos to schools...

It's going to bring chaos to everything. Be prepared to hunker down for a couple of weeks.

The good thing? The faster it goes up, the faster it will come back down.

I ain't booking that flight, hotel, and rental car for the business trip on 17 Jan that we already have the purchase order for. LOL

At least this round, grandparents are triple vaxxed and can help. We kept them away the first few rounds of school closures to keep them alive.

My daughter and I were at Walmart last night picking up stuff. PA announcement came on that they had 3 extra Pfizer doses available first come first served - presumably no-shows or failed screening. She wasn't originally scheduled to get her shot until late January, but we made it to the pharmacy in time and she got her third. And she's happy about it - she's getting a constant stream of reports from her college friends from those who are either actively sick right now, or were the inevitable "I was at so-and-so's place and now one of them is sick, now I don't know if I'm going to be as well" scenarios.

She has a friend coming over today in that latter category to use one of our rapid tests and check herself, although she's got no symptoms, but I guess she's pretty upset and it might make her feel better if nothing else.

You adult. Adults knew from beginning of December that kids may not be going back. 20 months of this, you have had to have made a plan by now if you have kids who need teaching

I admire your optimism.

We just cancelled two spots at Cloverdale Mall on January 6th because we were able to get jabbed yesterday. The Mrs. got through quickly on the phone so good luck if you need a shot. I suspect the peak rush is over.

re testing, a friend called me yesterday from his cottage where he is isolating due to shared custody grandson picking C-19 at school and it taking days to advise people. It took him an hour to explain what he had to go through to get a test up north. His wife is isolating at home. The kid's mom is positive with taste, smell and other health issues. The kid is positive but bouncing around like a jumping bean, no signs.

The kid's stepmom was heading south but got booted back at the airport, testing positive.

When is the last time anyone took anything from the government as the Gospel truth? I don't know what is more unbelievable, the internet or a politician. Obviously there are the hopeful, the wishful and the dreamers that still believe.

Lucky me. I get to drag my wife to the pharmacy this afternoon for her booster. It's very awkward getting her in and out of the car. I'll have to wait.

Just went through this at the beginning of December with an elderly friend. When I got to the pharmacy we asked for help after as it was a nightmare getting him into car in first place. They helped first with a wheelchair and then into the car.

Consider bringing along a helper perhaps? Check what pain meds you can give her before to help with jarring?

Safe travel regardless

Thanks meme.(sounds funny. Grandkids call her Mimi) it's mostly anxiety that gets in the way. Can't wait to get a vehicle with a turney seat!

it's a nickname from my niece, whenever we would do stuff when she was really young she would tel everyone what "me and me" did. Hence meme. Prob before internet memes.

My MIL is Gaga to my nephews.

Just to tie into thread, remember your 2022 municipal taxes are now due!

Any chance they can come outside and give her the shot while sitting in your vehicle? Might be worth asking .

Great idea. Never hurts too ask. Thanks.

Where my dad went, normally they offered shots in cars for mobility impaired. That day, a supervisor was having none of it. A worker was unimpressed with that policy and although he had to go inside, the worker walked him past the huge line. It worked well.

I have an unvaxxed friend but he's not anti vax. He is terrified of needles to the point of fainting. A large vaccine centre with line ups and seeing others getting the jab is not for him.

He got as far as booking a shot but turned back when he got to the place. Anxieties and phobias are hard to understand if you don't have one. He's in his 40's so getting to the time of life where doctor's appointments will typically require a blood test.

Dart gun?

She isn't afraid of needles. It's mostly the fear of being seen in a wheelchair.I think.
