So, uh...what happens if emergency services needs to access your property, IE you need an ambulance, or your house is on fire?

Anyhow, in unrelated news Trump has all but confirmed that he's going to effectively "give up" on social distancing and closure orders some time inside the next 15 days. If that happens that officially scratches anywhere in the USA off my vacation list this summer.
If that happens, the border should not be open for a very long time. The only upside is it may tear through the US like a wildfire and then die out. Economically, that may be a better approach. The piles of bodies though. :/

At least Home Depot will still be open, maybe I can get some little projects done around the house. ?‍♂️
I hope they're open in 2 weeks when I (Hopefully am allowed to) return home....got a lot of projects to do and REALLY hoping I get stuck at home...not on site. Garage needs drywall dammit!

"Success" will be measured in not only bodies, but bankruptcies (face it, we all know their medical insurance situation down there) and destroyed lives.

Can these restrictions be sustained forever? Absolutely not, of course. But they can be sustained for a few more weeks to flatten the curve...which is the entire goal behind all of this. To just give up at this point and say "**** it, I need to worry about getting re-elected more than anything else right now" (which ultimately is his line of thinking) and blowing up the curve is stupid.

The ironic part is that a huge part of his "base" are amongst those in the highest risk groups. I'm not sure he comprehends that. He SHOULD care if he did.

I'd say this is going to mark the end of the Trump presidency but his base will undoubtedly find a way to blame Democrats for the upcoming 6-figure death toll.

Short-sighted, self-interested idiots.
I'd like to think so...but typically in a crisis the sitting president gets re-elected almost all the time. This could be the best thing that happened to Trump at this point in time (cue tin foil hat conspiracy theories) as the country won't want a change of leadership during this time.

For so many reasons, just get them to deliver it. You may even be able to order it now and have them drop it in the garage.

If 50% of his base (which is commonly stated as 40% of the USA population, and as mentioned, are amongst the highest risk groups for Covid) are dead, hospitalized, bankrupt, or homeless at the time of the election, reality would suggest otherwise.

October is a long way out. Trumps "let god sort them out" plan should have the country out of medical crisis mode by then. The worldwide economic slump affecting them will probably still be in full swing though.

Didn't think that's even an option. I can't have them deliver it and then leave it on the driveway as my wife won't be able to deal with it.
Worse comes to worse the garage work waits a few months. Not the end of the world.

I'll order it near the end of my rotation along with a gazebo I found. That'll keep me busy for the entire week when I get home!

Typically in a crisis the sitting president isn't a narcissistic egomaniac science-denying twatwaffle.

I don't normally order delivery so I don't know if it is curbside only. Given what is going on, and given that they could either boom or cart the drywall into the garage quite easily, I suspect that if the garage has enough clean space, that shouldn't be an issue.

If Trump's actions result in Italy but 5 times bigger (more population), everyone will know someone who didn't make it because of this, and the economy will be disproportionately devastated. That won't recover by October.

or just slip the guys $100 and they'll do it. LoL

Costco is 'curb side' delivery only when you order their larger items.

More data analysis based on www.worldometers.com

Italy MAY have peaked in terms of new cases per day a few days ago. When "total cases" is viewed on a logarithmic scale, it's starting to tail off. The situation is still far from good, but at least the rate of increase is slowing. About 4800 new cases yesterday (down from 6500 a couple days ago). Likewise, 600 new deaths, down from 800 a few days ago. Terrible situation but hopefully the down trend continues.

USA now in 3rd place in total cases (behind China and Italy) but exponential growth continues, slightly more than doubling every 3 days. If current trends continue (Italy growth slowing, USA continues exponential), Italy will probably be level with China for number of known cases in another 3 or 4 days and USA could very well overtake both.

Spain is also on exponential growth. But their doubling rate is every 4 days, and there's some sign of the curve gradually flattening.

Our doubling rate is every 3 days ... not out of the woods, by any means.

lol You are your own fire department around here unless you want to call somebody to save the foundation.
Trump is an ass

Our cases in Kingston went from 3 to 8 in a few days. One of our hockey arenas has been converted to a testing centre.

Some people are calling for student residences to be used as emergency housing for those that can’t pay rent. However, there’s no reports of people being evicted so this just smells like activist opportunism right now.

and yet the cost of their $ just went up again :/ makes zero sense.

Why would you not use laboratories for your testing centres? That's where all the equipment and facilities already exist.
Do you know what Tunney's Pasture is?
