Grocery day:

A fair while back some chick posted a video of a bike ride through Chernobyl, possible faked. However it was good entertainment. Driving to Loblaws in rush hour felt a bit the same. On Burnhamthorpe which is usually bumper to bumper there was hardly a bumper.

Loblaws: Kudos for having glass separators for the cashiers. The shelves weren't as bare as last week and there was TP but being limited to two a customer. No sanitizer.

The checkouts were being assigned like the bank lineups. As your turn came you were directed to a cashier. The spaced line went to the far corner of the store but all in all not bad.

A fair number of shoppers had masks including one old cow that only had it over her mouth.

I went to two No Frills. The first one was limiting entry and there were a couple of dozen in line so I passed. The next one was a bigger store and more normal. It looked like they rearranged the aisles to allow more spacing and there were tape lines on the floor to avoid crowding the cash. Decent supply of most things except sanitizer.

Fortinos was almost normal except for the expected empty shelves and a few tape lines.

Went to BMO to set up improvement to my debit account and they had shortened hours. A security guard was limiting entry and asking the usual symptom questions. While waiting to get in I chatted with another guy about the situation mentioning the lady not wearing the mask over her nose. He one upped me. He saw a guy wearing a mask with a hole in it so he could smoke. Tattoo DNR on his forehead.

I poked my head into the local independent drug store to see if they had sanitizer. Nope. BTW to the A hole parked in front of Dollarama, social distancing does not mean parking six feet from the curb in a fire lane.

Hunkered down for another week I hope.

Pffft. I’ve had an EN&T shove a camera up my nose. Can’t be that bad.

Me too.

I’ve also had the nasal swab. It’s not that big of a deal. Those who’ve had it and are screaming about how “painful” it is don’t know pain.

It may also have to do with the state of inflammation. If the tissue is healthy, it may not be bad, but if it is dry and inflamed, it could feel quite terrible. Thankfully, I haven't needed to get one yet.

Government knows where to find me, ask me if anyone in the household has been showing symptoms,
and how many occupants including pets are there in the household.
They have 2 weeks head time on implementing a test process even if that is a nice man in a white suit coming to my door or a box I return in special mail.

Time of use rates suspended for the next 45 days. All power at off peak rates. Ontario picks up the bill to make sure opg gets paid the same.

No Frills in my small town BC basically set up a checkout line through the store so people stay away from one another. Bottle of sanitizer at the door to be used before you touch anything in the store.

Shoppers next door...nothing being done except a sign to stay away from everyone.

Restaurants...take out only. But they sell beers with the food, so packed up a few beers with my order of wings. Laid off 70% of her staff within 1 week of this whole thing starting.

Hotel...self check in/out. Staff hiding behind door. No clean ups of rooms if more than a day, all supplies on each floor by elevator so staff doesn't have to get near guests.

how about the one where the pretty female nurse and the pretty female doctor put a TV camera up your unit.
That's pretty cool.

When you get "scoped" are you asked if you want to watch?

If it's the one I'm think'n, you're quite sedated......but if you cheat, and the monitor is facing you (you're on your side), then yes, you can watch. If they notice your eyes open, you get more sleepy juice.

Final year medical and nursing students being mobilized to front lines in the uk. That’s also a great idea.
Many Toronto nursing students are doing that here voluntarily. My daughter is a final year student, they are doing daycare for doctors providing critical front line care.

(Sad note... it appears some doctors are taking this as a freebee. Students provide their own time, transportation, meals and sometimes parking at their cost - doctors saving $50+/day in childcare costs should consider flipping them a small gratuity - $10/day would help a nursing student cover gas).

Oh great orange one. He is going to manage to kill more of the population than any president in the past (including wartime presidents).

“Our people want to return to work,” Trump tweeted Tuesday. “They will practice Social Distancing and all else, and Seniors will be watched over protectively & lovingly. We can do two things together. THE CURE CANNOT BE WORSE (by far) THAN THE PROBLEM!”

Vice-President Mike Pence reinforced Trump’s eagerness to lift coronavirus-related work and travel restrictions “in a matter of weeks, not months”

Hillsdale Terrace in Oshawa is *&^*&^ed. My heart goes out to their staff, residents and their families. They are at ~10% of the residents infected. The other 90% haven't been tested.

"On Tuesday afternoon, a Durham Region Public Health spokesperson said that 16 other residents of the home have tested positive for the virus and results for four others are pending.

All 20 of those people are under isolation, and they are spread across three different wards of the facility.

Hillsdale Terraces has 200 individual residential units."

I can't imagine that is good for the dog. For a few minutes while you run through a field of mustard gas sure, but much longer than that and the dog will just overheat and die (yes I know it is sort of a joke and a photochop).
