Testing would be socialism bruh

I can go to a hospital, flash my OHIP card, get diagnosed and treated. If drugs are needed a system is in place that only needs a quick modification to get me drugs I can't afford.

In the USA self diagnosis and treatment are common because of their convoluted health care system and any modification has to go through massive political channels. What was the page count for Obamacare? 20,000?

Add to that if there's a (R) after your name you consider healthcare un-American. However I was under the impression that COVID-19 was just given free testing status.

OK so you have COVID-19 and shouldn't go to work. Do you still get a paycheck, particularly in a right to work state?

If not, is Bubba going to take an over the counter med and go in anyways?

Basically, greed and politics have made the USA a Petri dish for a pandemic.

This is why I only invest in gold, silver and now cobalt. Stocks, like cash in the bank are paper to me, paper can be devalued overnight into less that nothing.
Heavy metal is great and all, just as long as you still have plenty of food and water. If the stores do run out of food you can maybe trade some of that gold for something to eat (y) I'll be the one who walks down the hill to catch some fish for protein, drill a few trees to make sugar and bury some chunks of potato in good clean country top soil for a few months to make my starch and carbo's.

I suspect you might feel so sick you will just want to die and you really won't be thinking about anything other then the distance to the toilet.

I am concerned about the USA, too. I know that preparations are being made here, and I know it won't be contingent on who pays. The USA may be about to learn a hard lesson about this. What's their response so far? Cut interest rates.

What does GTAM think about the economic repercussions of this virus? I am more concerned about the economic fallout.
Like always the rich will get richer, the middle class will burdened with any fallout or financial pressures.

Business as usual

Airlines & Cruise ships are looking for a bailout but Socialism = bad
My gut says let the cruise lines fail. Potentially prop up the airlines. Aren't all the cruiseships all registered at points of convenience (and low-tax)? Since they are flying grenada/bahamian/whatever registration, go cry to them to keep you afloat. You don't kick back much to the US economy anyway.

Airlines do serve a useful purpose and having too many disappear would be bad in the long-term. As a starting point, fixing the slot allocation mess is an easy first step. Apparently most airports require an airline to fly out of at least 80% of their eligible slots or risk losing allocation. Suspend that for now so they don't need to keep wasting money by flying ghost planes around.

The Bank of Canada also cut the interest rate as well because of the virus. ?‍♂️

Oh good. More people can now afford million dollar homes so prices will rise.
Yes I was thinking the same thing, seems the real estate agents are already predicting a rise in GTA home prices, how convenient.

Part of living in a civilized society is living with a social contract, (ie. caring about those that arent you)
I understand my odds of getting corona are low, and as a non old person Im unlikely to die from it, but that doesnt mean we shouldnt care for others who may get it(mostly the elderly who are vulnerable), the americans dont seem to get this.

For them the argument is always "but my tax dollars!"

Meh Air Canada is a pretty ****** airline, I avoid them as much as possible. Just look at the shanigians they are pulling with the new airline compensation rules. If they disappeared it might be for the better.

The barter system has worked for thousands of years, I'm not concerned.

You may have decent luck with gold and silver, physical cobalt is probably one of the most illiquid assets you could own. Even gold and silver probably aren't nearly as liquid as they once were. I sure as hell don't know easy/quick tests to determine what is real. That knowledge was probably much more common 100 years ago.

I won't complain. Waterloo is a real estate hot bed right now, and this is just going to make it hotter. We are going to list our house in a couple of weeks and downsize to a bungalow.

Maybe if trials is lucky I'll hire him to help carry my stack of gold bars.

Make sure your listing includes a picture of the garage. I can't remember the last time I saw a listing that showed that and yours looks great.
