Loved the Rockcliffe in Minden , legendary drinking hole, like the 'Dard in Wasaga and the Number 7 Orange in Vancouver. Cheetah in Windsor is gone now too. Probably for the best LOL
I remember driving down Hwy 27 regularly, and there was a pub / bar I was always scared to go into it because I heard it's nothing but biker gangs. Sawlty Dawg or something like that...it's gone now.

What makes a drinking hole 'legendary'?

Seems he likes picking on women.

Keeps getting better.

The wimmin hatin' is starting to make sense.

I don't know how to put this so it doesn't seem like a sick joke.

I was thinking of a province wide ban for him and his brother, stopping either from entering a store that sells alcohol. FMJ's post makes me wonder if he needs other restraints like renting a van, owning firearms etc.

I'm thinking about the Nova Scotia shooting rampage, Yonge Street attack.

But he keeps his rights until he has permanently relieved someone else of theirs.

To me it is only a matter of time until either he physically attacks someone (Again?) or provokes someone into attacking him. Then he can use self defense as an excuse for whatever damage he can inflict.

The place had character and then someone cleaned it up. Lost the regulars I assume but it was still off limits for mom and pop. We went in once but it was too smokey so we did a U turn. Last I saw, it was fenced off waiting for some redevelopment or ???

What in the eff did I just read.....I don’t want to go down this rabbit hole.

Decades ago there were places for people like him. In the modern world, the police take their dna and put them out on the street until they do real harm to someone. Then the health system deals with them, and puts them..... Back on the street. When they kill someone, they are sent to a healing lodge and so on and so on.
Like i said before, mental illness is sad.

Is that site a branch of the onion? It seems full of sadly pathetic caricatures.

If he was charged for assault, or any other criminal charge, he would be banned from owning firearms.
NS shooters were illegally obtained.
Yonge st dude rented his van I believe.

Stupid and angry finds a way. He needs help: lobotomy and neutering sounds about right. ;)

Someone mentioned the Dardanella in a post. My dentist was killed in the parking lot by a local. I guess that added to the mystique.

*EDIT* Got my wires crossed. It was the Atherly Arms.

They were both trespassed from every Beer Store in the province. Grocery stores that sell it and craft breweries are still on the table. Probably limited options in Kawartha for those

It's easy to be an armchair quarterback after the fact

I used to like the Loretto Tavern, Village Inn, Atherley Arms, Le Moustache, and the Mansion House.

To a lesser extent the Kee, Jolly Miller, Brunswick House, and the Conroy.

Gone are the days of ordering $10 trays.

the old eastwood was one of my watering holes, needed to make sure you sat with your back to the wall

I worked at the Beer Store right by the Eastwood at lakeshore and browns line. Across the street from Sloppy Joe’s. Wasn’t there a strip club there where the lights were aimed below the face for a reason?

That area has changed so much I barely recognize it. Condos condos condos.

I miss that area for what it was.

The AArms could get pretty crazy. I used to live on Lake Simcoe, we would boat up to the narrows, jump out and walk to the Arms.

We would give the bartender a $50 (2 guys) and he’d pour drafts till we couldn’t stand up.

They also had some pretty interesting entertainers, many of them liked boating after work. I’ll never forget one who came back to the boat with a trumpet, flute, and an old guitar she said was given to her by Tom Connors. We cruised Kempenfelt till sunrise, she played all night.
