I guess banning those nasty cruise ships (wait... do cruise ships actually come to Canada?) is going to help protect us.
This will affect the cruises out of Vancouver to Alaska between June & Sept. That's a huge money generator for cruise lines - huge! I expect they will ramp up departures from Seattle though assuming the US OK's travel by cruise ships but that may be doubtful too.

There's some activity in Atlantic Canada as well with ships coming up from New York. The fall colour tours are popular and there's also a summer cruise circuit in Atlantic Canada. I know of several businesses in downtown Saint John N.B. that will close for good because of this announcement. Some really nice restaurants were barely hanging on last fall when I was there. Another year without the cruise people will kill them for sure.

So long Steamers - it was nice dining with you!

Entitled piece of ****....medical exemption my ass. You’re just a piece of **** human.

@nobbie48 i think @pfbmgd is talking about the ‘loss’ of jobs that won’t exist in the magical future of the pipeline cancellation. I’ve read people complain ‘thousands of jobs gone with the swipe of a pen’.
How many jobs?
Where are those jobs?
for how long?

Lots of jobs in the growing green energy market, but oil jobs are the most important.

Fun read about how we effed up.....

If the details of home grown manufacturing are true....JT ****** this large....we could have had production and distribution here but they preferred to build their own facility under construction for another year.

Let’s just revisit a few things from above..,

1. What thousands of jobs that you refer to were lost in Biden’s first days of office?

2. Why does the vaccine not work according to your supposition.

Also....relevant...

Not to mention the jobs that support the workers .

Might as well have handed the whole vaccine program over to the Maple Leafs. At least there would be entertainment value.

It isn't Trudeau by himself. He has advisors on this sort of stuff. Who are they? They've turned a puppet into a clown. What was the line of thought?

Personally I think JT would make a good member of society but not member of parliament. He is coming across more naive every day.

Now who is the best person / party to replace him? Does Ardern have a sister?

That’s what you get when your advisors and people in charge of files are picked based on gender and race instead of qualifications.

So we build a pipeline that we won't need in another 30 years? Forward thinking gone.

Have you lived in Ontario the last ten years . How has the green energy plan worked out in Ontario.

As to job loses I posted a link already .

I’m all for equality between genders and race. But choosing women/minorities/whites just to meet a 50/50 quota is silly.

choose your staff/team based on experience, skill and actual qualifications....regardless of gender or race.

Yes because I can heat my house today on government promises for tomorrow .

BTW is your furnace off to lead the way . It uses fossil fuels today and probably for the next 30 years .

What was the reason for the Keystone? As far as I know there are already pipelines to move this oil.

Equality means equal opportunity for consideration and equal pay for the same job. Someone let JT know he hasn’t got a clue.

To pipe crude oil to Texas refineries I believe.

To transfer our oil to the US . Now the oil will be moved probably by rail or truck .

These don’t suffice?

I don’t follow oil, but I’m not in the business.

The argument I hear FOR the pipeline is less emissions due to trucking/rail and jobs.

environmentally I’d say a leak in a pipe would be catastrophic compared to an overturned truck or rail train. Not including the damage caused by building it.

I deal with this on a regular basis in my work. It's not a wide spread problem in Canada, except for Edmonton where a small unorganized group of anarchists show up at large public places (malls, grocery stores, banks, public squares) and make a scene over their 'medical exemption'. They all have the same story - "I have a medical exemption, you can't stop me because the charter of rights says you cannot discriminate against me because of my disability". They are supposed to wear their medical exemption like a press pass, visible from a distance.

They prefer to approach and/or confront young workers, and workers who are visible minorities. They wait for police to arrive knowing all that will happen is they get shoo'd out of the premise.

They don't understand the law, they simply make erroneous claims to rights and privilege's they believe they have.

There is no fix for stupid.

There are many qualified people in the Liberal party . Unfortunately qualifications don't matter to JT . When you pic your cabinet by gender .

Prime Minister was a part time drama teacher
Finance Minister is a journalist/blogger
Minister of health was graphic designer/social activist

What could go wrong .

These don’t suffice?
