I am happy until christmas. You should see the roads the guy had to drive on to get here !

No riding yet for me to take advantage of cheap gas, we just got 4 more inches of snow this morning (Cochrane)
Yikkes that sucks about the snow.

Was out for a bit, gas was at 74 cents reg, and 105 for supreme. Warm up weather so we can go!

I should add: Everything needs to stop except what is absolutely necessary to sustain people at home for 30 days. For those essential workplaces, shelter-in-place may need to be at work. Financial markets have to close. Banks have to close. All bills and payments have to be deferred. No public transit. No air travel. No trains. Everyone stays put and interacts with only the people that they directly deal with normally (e.g. family). No one comes in contact with strangers.

Banks are an essential service, they are not allowed to close. From what I can see they are doing their part, reduced hours and only keeping selected branches open, providing ATM, online and telephone banking. Plus the assistance they are providing to people who cannot meet their credit obligations.

Medical services, police and defense, food and fuel supply cannot be cut off either.

Are those businesses putting staff at risk? Yes, but also respect the commitment and sacrifice those working folks are making -- they are doing their part under extremely difficult conditions.

I live in Cochrane, 7.5 hours north of To. retired so ride all summer. Nearest neighbour, 2 Km away.
I think I'll survive till the snow is gone lol.
Yes I know where, I stopped there on the way back Moonbeam last year, saw the polar bear at the toursit centre (y)
On the same trip, met a lady in North Bay who showed me photos of snow in May...
All nice country up that way, but yikkies!

I've got a ride to Vancouver scheduled to start June 1st.
Just realized... if this plague continues to the point where hotels start shutting down... I'm going to have to "camp"...

Damn.... I'm too delicate for that!

Camping is an awesome way to self isolate, all the fresh air, no stress and sunshine.
Buy a travel trailer and park it somewhere with hookup.

Hey where is that nurse?
If you had this and a supply of oxygen would that be a ventilator?

Porter suspending all flights until June 1. I'm not sure about those that bought AC on the plunge. This is going to be rough on airlines. I could see those that have deposits on Max 8's putting a run on the bank of Boeing to free up some much needed cash (as Boeing has already drawn all available credit, this will be very bad for them).
As expected, boeing is screwed. They asked Trumpy for $60,000,000,000 to maintain liquidity. Yes, 60 billion dollars for a company that paid their crooked CEO ~20 million last year. Crashing harder than the Max8.

Market currently gives them a 30% chance of failing in the next five years and that is climbing fast. Crash families calling for strings attached to bailout that require Boeing to give up the right to certify their own planes. Knowing what we know about the design and assembly of their planes, they may never make an aircraft that could be certified by an external agency.

I'd rather not talk about that :(

I suppose the odds of me finding work right now are non existent, rip

I am with him and ackman. A full 14 to 30 day shutdown is infinitely less painful than a barely functioning economy for 12+ months. Remember, we are flattening the curve here, not shrinking it.

Rough calcs
Our health care capacity is very optimistically 2000 people on ventilators. ~15% of the infected need hospitalization. Prediction is 30 to 70% of the population catches this. Population of canada is ~38,000,000. That means 1.7 to 4 million people in the hospital. Assume a week on the ventilator per patient. The math collapses into absurdity at that point. Many years of health care at full capacity (saved by the vaccine at that point)

seems like a recipe for abuse....

JT EI program is going to be supporting a good >50% of the population shortly.

I got lucky with the timing and finished my G3 gas course just before the corona craziness took off
