I knew a guy that sold his Ferrari for well under 40K. It only impressed people that knew nothing about Ferraris. Like the VW that was rebadged Porsche for the North American market. At Ferrari meets he got the respect of a kit car owner.
I'm of the opinion that you get the car or motorcycle that turns your crank, not anybody else's. After all, you're the one that has to drive it and look at it every day.
I know I have pretty fringe tastes and I *always* expect to take a bath on resale given how much mileage I put on these vehicles, so I'm pretty used to car or bike guys saying, "OMG, you bought *that*?" Why didn't you get the more popular model?"

Because I like it.
