I had thought PP was referring to instances happening in Canada. US is a whole other nest of wackos on both sides.
Either way, left is left, right is right. If you look at how just about every first world country has flattened the curve, and then kept it somewhat under control even when lifting restrictions, you'll see that masks feature prominently.

When it comes to the "muh freedumb!" and "muh rights" being infringed upon, and then bitching and moaning about not being let into places due to it, well, that whole attitude is stepping everyone else's rights and freedoms too. Businesses are by and large privately owned. They get to set the rules. Just like when someone comes to my house, they need to take their shoes off before proceeding past the landing. My house, my rules -- don't like it? Don't come in.

It's really kind of simple, and I honestly cannot grasp how people cannot understand it. You don't want to wear a mask? Fine. Place orders for everything you want to buy online and have it delivered, or do the whole curb side pick up thing.
You don't believe that masks help, look at every major first world country's health advisories (well, except the USA - they're so F**KED up by partisanship the can't agree on the fact that water is wet) - masks work. Yes, at the initial outbreak the health units had it wrong when they said masks weren't necessary. The study of the virus has evolved. We know more, but not everything, not by a long shot...

Ask any adult on the planet (aside from Trump) if they've ever made a mistake, and have done things to rectify it. I can guarantee you everyone has.

Either way, left is left, right is right.
I don't necessarily disagree but i don't look at Trump and Scheer/McKay/Harper/whoever and see the same agenda. That's why i think it's important to note the extremists in either side and how the 2 party system has and will continue to fail the people south of the border.

Anywho, my bad for inserting political debate into a covid thread. :censored:

less strains of COVID 19 currently than the flu.

Still going to be a guess . The virus will mutate and vaccine useless . Just like the flu shot every year .

depends on the nature of the mutation and the type of vaccine

old style vaccine of whole virus that's not active may be less effective
newer style of mimicking just the spike protein may be more effective

but if the mutation is to the spike protein then it's no bueno

Not really...one does not equate to the other. Just because we have multiple strains of the flu and a difference in vaccine efficacy doesn’t mean that several strains of COVID-19 won’t be treated by any one vaccine. Vaccines all work and are developed in different ways. For COVID 19 the development is actually quite different than for normal flu virus.

Our right is left of their left.

For the rich. How effective were masks for poor people working in the meat packing plants?
Space, ventilation. Hand washing. No unnecessary contact. Working from home. etc. etc.
Homemade masks may only play a very small part in that.

meat packing plants = lack of social distancing too. It’s a combination of things...masks aren’t invincible armour, social distancing isn’t either...combine both and you’re getting there.

Meat-packing plant infections started very early in the pandemic ... before we had good knowledge of how it spread, in an environment that is the worst-possible case for spread (crowded, active, noisy), before employers took it seriously (some still aren't), and before public health authorities knew what needed to be done. We have not heard as much of them lately.

Oh hey, we have an immunologist on the forum.

(Hint: Scientific consensus is that this is highly unlikely to happen....)

Why does this surprise you? This has happened already elsewhere, I believe Japan and Korea.
With virius's the body builds up the immunity and once it is done lets it go, it's not permanent.

Has it? I hadn't seen the others (I don't deny it) - this one just appeared on my news feed.

You'll have to forgive me for not paying attention to this 24/7.

Covid re-infections?

She tested positive three months later from ther first time she had it, she didn't catch it twice

The doctor “tested positive again because she has remnants of her first virus still floating around in her body,” a hospital spokesperson told The Jerusalem Post on Sunday.

Another immunologist.

Hint: The measles vaccine is considered a lifelong vaccine. There's lots of others that last for decades before a booster is even considered necessary.

Google is a wonderful thing. I'm not a immunologist, but I sure as hell know how to Google scholarly data and educate myself, but I also thought it was fairly common knowledge that things like Measles and Polio has all but been eradicated because of the fact the vaccination is extremely long lasting. Considering how many crazies are now turning down the vaccination in their crotch goblins it's only us (who *did* receive it back when we were kids and parents listened to science instead of celerities on TV) who are effectively preventing another global outbreak of several previously common childhood illnesses because of that cool Herd Immunity thing.

Ah, but you had to read past the headline to get the actual full story. That's where you lose 95% of the population.
